I only play Japanese games if its a game with little or no reading required like bleach or jump ultimate stars or if it will most likely not have an english release

Well, that aint the sort of thing i am used to do, but since some games wont ever have an english or universal version,i eventually try playing them in japanese... I studied a little japanese, but it is not enought to actually understand much...Especially when the damn game decides to put EVERYTHING in kanji... (Like Front mission 5 for example)

I only play games in Japanese if the English voices are really annoying. And sometimes Japanese versions of games are just BETTER. On the 64, there are some games that just had more in the Japanese version. It's kinda funny.

A good Japanese tranlated game was the Secret of Mana 3 for the SNES. and if the game is only in Japanese, i'll try to play it, like the Legendz game on GBA or Bobobo-bo-bobobo.

I've played Hyper Street Fighter 2 in Japanese. Most of the time, I'd get a translation patch, but for MAME roms, I'll play them in Japanese if I have to.

I like playing the game in both forms. The japaese get alot of the games we dont which I guess is part of what got me interested in learning japanese, that and being able to understand animes is a bonus. I almost prefer the japanese version just because there are some that can have key points that we dont get in our games sometimes. Its your own personal preference.

Most cases, the answer is no, because the Japanese games I usually desire to play are RPGs, and since they are plot intensive, being able to read the story is important to me. One Rhythm game called Rhythm Tengoku for the GBA wasnt so bad, because the amount of language was little. But generally, I regretfully pass on the game and hope that someone translates a patch for it.
