I can read alot of Japanese but not all so I get Japan only games from Japan and I can play them, but games that were released in the US I won't get in Japanese.

Only when I have to, which isn't often. For the most part, you can figure out what's what after a few minutes even with no knowledge of the language.

I've only ever completed one game in Japanese and that was Magical Vacation for the Game Boy Advance. It took forever, and I didn't really understand anything that was happening, but I did have fun playing it.

I never played games in Japanese because I don't understand the language. I only play games in English.

Depends on the game. If it's a game I really wanna play and I know it isn't coming to the US I will most likely buy it in Japanese. Also if I know that the game will take a really long time to get to the US I might buy it. It's a good way to improve my Japanese anyway :) .

I played some Japanese games before.
I only finish them when they're interesting enough.

That would be confusing. I prefer english, though i'll play japanese games if they have subtitles. Sometimes american versions of games mess up the story and the names, so i'll take japanese with subtitles.

I only play japanese games that I really really really wanted to play. Like the gundam games for the PSP and NDS. Im a big Gundam fan and I still get a kick playing them even in Japanese. Well i think being a fan explains it.

I tend to play the Super Robot Wars games in Japanese. Not that I have a choice for most of them....

Yes, of course. But only a few Japanese games. For example, there's the Super Robot Taisen series (all for GBA) Naruot Gekkitou Ninja Taisen 4, and Jump Ultimate Stars. After a while i got used to the controls of the games and where each menu was. The dialog not so much... :P

Two of those games were given to me from a friend, so i kept them. I have a Freeloader disc for my GameCube, so the Naruto game was a great new addition for me. As far as Jump, luckily that didn't need a type of Freeloader to work, it was just all about memorizing everything in the menu screen. Plus, the online play is amazing! :kingd:
As far as SRT... I just found that once and thought it was cool... lol

Right now I have a game I should be playing called Tomato Adventure for the GBA. It is pretty fun, but it is obviously for children given the graphics and other things.

You would think that it would have easier words, and it probably does, but I still need to play the game with a guide. ;)

I don't, but I plan on starting when I finally get around to learning Japanese. Doing something simple like FFI with a dictionary next to me should be a good way to improve my grasp of the language.

I have, I played Japanese pokemon white 2 on flashcard. I just kept pressing the A button during conversations, and so far the only thing i knew were the basic functions, i missed out on the story by a lot. :P

I'd rather not play the Japanese version before the English release. Even if I really want to play the game, I would try my best to find an English patch. The fact that I love playing RPGs added to playing twice kind of spoils the plot, and I play RPGs only for the plot and grinding. So, yeah, no Japanese for me.

It was playing (or attempting to- half the plot flew right over my head) the GBA originals in Japanese that got me interested in the English-language Ace Attorney series, but I don't think I have since then.

There are a few Japanese games I've played. Some have a fan translation finished or being worked on (the original Panel de Pon, Ladystalker) and some with no translation available (Sakura Taisen Columns 2, both the Crayon Shin-chan GBA games). Not being able to understand it is frustrating, but sometimes you can ignore that fact and enjoy

Super Robot Wars fanatic representin'! Hell, I play a LOT of games in Japanese. Some SD Gundam G Gens, I tried my hand at Gihren's Greed and failed miserably, some JP-only Tales games like Rebirth and Radiant Mythology 2 and 3, Another Century's Episode 1-3 (I suck at it, but it's fun), Battle of Sunrise/Sunrise World War, um...yeah. Suffice it to say I got so sidetracked by Japanese games around six years ago around half my PS2 library is unfinished and doesn't look like it'll be finished anytime soon. WHY AM I SUCH A TERRIBLE PERSON?! D:

I do, but not out of necessity. As a 5th-year student of the Japanese language I can be as excited for the language practice a Japanese game offers as much as for the game experience itself. Currently I'm trying to muster enough DP to download a Japanese DS copy of Ni no Kuni.
