I remember catching all the original legendary pokemon with pokeballs back when my brother and I had blue and red, respectively. I did it to best him, since he caught all of them but Articuno before I did. I did get to shove that catch in his face for about two days, though.I haven't played much of pokemon since those days.

I once was playing a friends yellow version and I had to catch an Articuno with a level 28 butterfree and a level 33 dugtrio. He didn't have that much money with him and all he had were pokeballs and he had saved right before articuno so I didn't feel like going to get something better so I went for the battle. I lost a couple of times, but I had thought up the perfect strategy between sleep power from butterfree and dugtrios sand attack and a combination of other moves to weaken it. I had caught Articuno with some really weak pokemon and a pokeball.

I caught mew-two in pokemon blue using the press b when you think the pokemon is gonna pop out trick. Don't know if that counts though. xP

for some reason all legendaries prefer the pokeball.. they seem to resist the ultra and great more than the pokeball. other than master, pokeballs work the best

I've used a repeat ball on Groudon and that caught it.xPI've also used pokeballs on Articuno and Zapdos.It took a good while but I got them.

The only legendary pokemon i caught was a Articuno in Fire Red with a pokeball.

To be able to do that, the Pokemon must have only one HP and be asleep. I have done that, actually I never get that far in a Pokemon.
