They were designed in Japan by a doctor for the specific purpose of increasing your smarts. So they probably do. As far as memorizing the questions, isn't that giving your brain a workout (which is what the games claim they do, when in turn is supposed to make you smarter). So yeah, I think they make ya smarter.

they may or may not... there has been scientific research in japan about these brain games but i think that it's only by repetitiveness of the puzzle that you get "smarter"

They are designed to make your brain think "on its feet" and so you can solve the same type of probelem faster each time you come across it. Games like sudoku help you do this.

Do they really make you smarter? I'd say no, but do they definately make you better at what they have you practice. For doing simple math during my business shift changes and/or inventory I find myself using a calculator far less.

I think they do... Atleast they seem to work. It alteast gets you to think a bit quicker...I tried a test to see if one would work. My test seemed to have gotten better after playing the games. But it was a timed test, like a 30 second test with "unlimited" questions. I was able to answer more questions the second time I took the test. Now if I am smarter because of the game still remains to be proven, but I am better in those specific challenges of the game (Ex: Finding to matching pairs or finding where the dog will end up).Summary: I think they do help...

Not really. They just keep your brain active, which in old people is a good way to stave off Alzheimer's. In young people it's just a good way to keep your brain in shape.

Nope, they just allow your brain to react faster.Which is still a pretty good payoff for playing a game.

I dont think they make you smarter, i think they increase your memory rating, so you can remember why you went in a room. Everyone knows what i mean, when you walk into a room and you forgot why and you start asking yourself? Thats why those games come in handy.

My wife and I are big fans of the brain academy game. I was always good at math when I was in school but when I started working i found myself using the calculator all the time even for simple calculations. When I started playing the brain academy game it was like my brain woke up from a long sleep. I do most of my calc in my head or on paper again and just as quick as if I used the calculator. I don't know if the game makes you smarter but it sure woke up my lazy brain.

I've always seen these things as kind of a novelty. I've played them, but I couldn't see myself actually buying them and REplaying them. If they make you smarter? It depends in what sense you mean. They would help brain function, but I don't see them giving you a vast amount of knowledge of information.
