I DON'T THINK THEY MAKE YOU SMARTER. BUT THEY TRIGGER YOUR BRAIN POWER AND MAKE YOU EXPLORE AND USE YOUR INNER ABILITY SINCE WE, HUMAN BEINGS ARE USING ONLY MORE OR LESS 10% OF OUR BRAIN POWER.EXCUSE MY CAPITAL LETTERS ... KEYBOARD BLOCKED... :oPOINTS were deducted for this post by Morning BellPlease refer to the forum rules to find out why your points were deducted.

It may not necessarily make you smarter, but it keeps your brain active.

I dont think they make you smarter, i think they increase your memory rating, so you can remember why you went in a room. :P Everyone knows what i mean, when you walk into a room and you forgot why and you start asking yourself? Thats why those games come in handy.

hell ya very fun and funny

Not necessarily smarter, per sé.... Instead, you've got a faster brain which has a much better memory. So, in a sense, you ARE smarter, because you can learn things better— you memorize them more easily, and you can pick those memories back out when you need them at a faster pace. The change actually is pretty noticeable, especially after you stop training....Of course, that's only if you actually use your brain elsewhere. Training your brain is like brushing your exercising (a comparison that Kawashima himself makes in the game).

That's... that's pretty much what I was about to say verbatim. I just want to add to that and remark that after using Brain Age I changed an outlook on life. Everything's gotta be faster and more efficient now, ha ha ha. Sometimes when I see people do things slowly I think, "Man... they're score is gonna suck."

As a Psychologist involved in developing learning strategies, I can comment: They will make you smarter. For some people, in a very small way, others more so. There is roughly two types of learning: knowledge and skill. Then for learning to be useful it must transfer from the situation in which it was "learned" to other situations where it could be deemed useful (Smartness). I believe all computer games can help learning. Many people who play these "brain trainers" are experienced gamers and so will probably gain very little from them, in fact they will probably find them "weak", not gaining any new knowledge or honing any skills. People who have never played a computer game may gain quite a lot and get some new knowledge about logic or gain new strategies for remembering or adding numbers. However for most people, the transfer to other situations is extremely limited unless "how it transfers" (or in what way it is applicable) is thought about i.e. the connection is made. This is often the step that is missing cos its the harder step. Schools have an advantage cos they can have groups of students discuss the "application".

Big Brain Academy only makes you a better eye, not a better brain. Trust me, because I played this game until I got an A.

I dont think so. They make you use your brain rather than 'shutting off' in front of a tv

Well I don't think it actually makes you smarter... I actually have gotten a faster brain reflex if that counts so maybe it does, can't say for sure.

in my opinion, it doesn't do much for you but it does give some fun facts =). if its puzzles it just makes you think abit more crictically.most probally the only thing that makes you smarter is that learning english zombie game

I have no idea but I hope they do because if not I've wasted a few hours. I wonder if anyone has done scientific research on this.

they make you better at those particular puzzles, but I don't know if that translates into over all intelligence. After one week of playing brain age, I have a brain age of 20, and its easy to keep there, while I don't feel much smarter, just better at simple arithmetic and simple puzzles

it really depends on how you play, but for me brain games made more me more fast in thinking like decision making on the things you need to do to pass the game..
