I got my mom some brain games, and I've noticed a difference in her response time. She's older. I think they just help in keeping the brain active.Blank

^^agree on the brain activity commentbtw - just tarted playing big brain academy and i like it a lot more than brain age. games are not so school-like and are definitely more fun while still exercising the brain

I think they do because they teach u how to learn a new game and then it increases ur speed rate and answering questions and that means you know them easily.

I used to play them everyday, I didn't feel smarter at the time, but since I stopped, I definitely feel dumber. I struggle with simple everyday math problems that I used to breeze through. I remember struggling with the same problems before playing the game. Thus, in my mind those brain games definitely HELP.

The brain games will stimulate you brain when you are playing the game but when you stop playing the game... it will make you confident like you are smarter... well you are not... the game tones your brain like lifting weights will tone you muscles.

I bought BrainAge for my mom. She's older, and not as active as she use to be. I think it helps with her motor skills, but maybe not. That's just my 2 cents on the matter. She has fun playing it regardlessCMG

It all depends on your definition of 'smarter'.All it merely does is help you memorize certain questions, therefore it only improves your memory and not the frontal lobe itself.

yea, you get better at the games themselves but hard to tell if it helps you outside of the game.

Any activity that stimulates the brain has to be good to the degree that Brain games do. Whether they make you smarter is certainly debatable. Perhaps they keep you where you were rather than loosing brain cells. Either way you have plenty of fun with them. :teehee:

People who use their brain more, can improve their scores on IQ tests. IQ tests are the best thing we have to measure our intelligent. Since These games are designed to jog our memory and push our problem solving skills I'd say they could improve your IQ scores and help you to think a little quicker. But in the big picture the difference might not be noticble, it's like adding 10 horsepower to your car engine, it's better, but not enough to notice.

Perhaps, but then again, who knows ? They'd have to do some scientific test to find out.

If there was a mario teaching game for the DS it would do well to teach children math and reading, but it will also teach them how to run around the room screaming WOO-HOO!
