As much as I hate the thought, PSP will probably not last very long. Nintendo, in all their gaming glory, has a strong chokehold on the handheld market. PSP will fade and die, and along with it...... .................. :'( Loco Roco :'( WE'LL MISS YOU!!!

yea i agre Nintendo will definitely beat psp look at the WII for example

I do hope that the PSP does last as it has tremendous potential. With games such as God of War, Puzzle Quest, and Dracula X Chronicles I tend to prefer the PSP over the DS. The homebrew capabilities of the PSP also guarantees that I will continue using this handheld gem for many years. Sony is not new to the video game industry. They have made themselves very well known with both the Playstation 1 & 2 and have proven that they are definitely a contender. I doubt that they will concede so easily to Nintendo's DS without a good fight..

The PSP will most definitely last. I am sure a lot more good games will come out for it.

That's hard to say. The Xbox had a fairly good library going for it before Micro$oft suddenly pulled the plug on the whole thing as soon as the 360 went into production. I think as long as Sony continues its support over its handheld, and continues to put out good -original- games, it will last another two years. I'm looking forward to seeing more games like Brave Story and Loco Roco, original titles that clearly took advantage of the system's capabilities without going overboard. At least they loosened their grip over the UMD market and put more focus on it as a gaming machine.

You're joking right? The psp is great especially when you mod it to play playstation, snes, nes, sega, and gameboy advance games plus it has a lot better game selection then DS

I think nintendo has a good grip on the handheld market and while i think the PSP will survive i don't think it will ever be as popular as gameboy, at least not until they can get some big star games on it.

Even though there are several things about the PSP that are constantly ranted about, they are only minor and more of an exageration. I bought Crisis Core, and my fried says it is a game hat wil make me cry it is so awsome, which he was right, but he told me that the loading times were insane! I was worried about that for a bit, but after playing th game, and finding a loading tim ethat spanned ALMOST 10 seconds, I have realized: gaming can be considered a waste of time, so what is waiting a few extra seconds for it? 10 seconds is not bad. I remember playing racing games on the PSone. ten seconds was heaven back then.

In my opinion, I think the PSP is outdated. There are going to be more compact and innovative hand-held devices that'll be released soon enough. Plus, their UMDs are too fragile and are hard to carry around. (when you have more than 3.)

Honestly, I dont see how the PSP will suddenly fail in the gaming world. It might have some stiff competition with the NDS, but the PSP can do many things that the NDS cant. The PSP can hold songs, pictures, emulators numerous games due to the emulators. The PSP is a growing sensation with not only young kids, but older people as well.

The PSP should last for, let's say another 2-3 years or so. Until Sony comes up with another good idea for a handheld, the PSP will most likely not die out.

Remember, they are only rumors - I'm sure Microsoft is tied up with other things right now.

Well I'm sure that sony will come out with a different handheld after a while but for next couple of years yea but even if it dies to sony there will always be homebrew hackers that will be making stuff.

It will last for sure, I don't know if anyone else remembers it, but there was a rumor going around a while ago that Microsoft was going to release a Xbox handheld device, but the PSP was released earlier and got all the more serious games that Nintendo doesn't use. Then again, Nintendo has seen a few competitors in its time and has always came out on top.
