when you name a character in a game?

I usually would look it up cuz i always have to have the pre name,cuz like in legend of zelda it never tells u anywhere in the game that his name is link, but people know it is, so thats what i would name my character is whatever the real name is whether its in the game or not.

I name the main character Jack. It's my nickname, although it is generally out of place in most RPG's. *shrug*

Well, in regard to games where I know the name of the character, I name them that. However, I have two other standards - for non-RPGs, I name the main male character after me and a female character after my girlfriend (if there is one present), and in games where I am not sure of their names, I call the main male Sumo.

i usually name them after historical figures. or greek gods and goddesses. or people i know. but that's no fun. i usually mix it up.

If its zelda games then i name him Link and if its pokemon i name him ash or something. I not really good i with name but if it requires for me to put a name in then i would put Nova or NovaElement for online games.

Sometimes i use my own name, but i usually name the character after a character in an anime or make up one.

I usually use Kenji when it's a guy character which is almost all the time. Why? Because it's a cool name. My name isn't even Kenji, My name is Andrew =P

i name characters by the personality i am going to follow in the game.if in a pokemon game if i name pyrus it seems i am following fire pokemon :D
