A good game is noted by it's "simple complexity"; Games that may be fairly easy to understand, but very hard to master properly. A good example of this is chess, a game that has pretty much been around for thousands of years now.

I'd say the plot(storyline) and the graphics is what makes a game good. Especially the plot.

The storyline is probably the most important for me, if i like the storyline then i most likely would want to play it more often, the graphics and the characters display should not affect the brilliance of the game, it is just now we have become accustomed to seeing as close to HD graphics as possible, but as long as the storyline is good and the game is rather lengthy (saying it takes at least effort, patience and skill to beat) that is what makes a great game for me and so Kingdom Hearts is under this catergory for me the storyline is just awesome and the gameplay is great, i would like to see FF do battle in real-time instead of turn based.

I hate it when people slam graphics. They mean nothing. What really makes a game good is the game mechanics.

Truly everything in the list will make a good game. But what you DIDN'T put on the list is the CONTROL SYSTEM! A game with a bad control scheme will be horrible, what I also mean by control scheme is how often you have to dodge or block, how much damage you give out. **** like that. That's why God of War was so good, it was just so fluid.

A good game is not only in its visual appearance but in its content and if you enjoy the game.

Hmm to make a game good or bad in my eyes would consist of a decent storyline, decent graphics, and maybe a few things to do inbetween quests. Fighting games now a days (I.e. Mortal Kombat deception) throws in some sort of mini-game to help enhance the players enjoyment. So yeah for me, to have a decent game you have to have a great storyline, decent graphics and TONS of things to do so I won't get bored. yes, I get bored easily.

Most of the things listed are good reasons why they are a good game, but it's more on the storyline, if it doesn't have a good story it wouldn't be a good game~

I chose the "All that has been said" option because every good game must have all the accessories.

In the poll where it says "game system" I took that to mean the style of play. But I guess that meant xbox, playstation, wii, etc.But for me the most important thing is the gameplay. If I'm going to play some game a lot, it needs to have something interesting and extra to captivate me. Like Super Smash Bros. Melee. It's got a very complex fighting system. Or Mario 64. The controls just feel "right". Or tribes for the PC, where you can fly with a jetpack and ski down any hill. And counterstrike has something extra as well... perhaps it's the satisfying sounds, or maybe the satisfying way you can just put a single bullet through somebody's brain and they just collapse from that single click...I don't really know how to put that extra gaming "essence" into words, but for me that defines whether or not I'll drop a game after 10 minutes or keep playing it 7 years later.

What do I think makes a good game? Not graphics... Too many people focus on graphics, and never realize that the game is pure crap. The story is optional, it does help, but is not what makes a game good (unless it's a RPG or something). What makes a game good is gameplay, of course! You need to have decent controls, things to do, and not have it become very repetitive.
