I would say the storyline then the graphics. I wouldn't buy a game that has low quality in either.

I chose "all that has been said" because a good game should include many elements. It should have good graphics, a good storyline, likable characters, and shouldn't be too difficult.

I dont think that there is only one thing that can define a good game, I have played a game that I hated but the story was great...

What do you think makes a game good? There are lots of reasons that make a game good , do you like certain things in a game , or do like everything to mix up in one good thing , like if the gameplay is good but the graphics are between medium and bad would you say that it is a good game or would you just play it when you are bored, i think this poll depends on the tastes of the players. so we'll see the results.

it has to have a good gameplay and good graphics

I said everything mentioned, but I think most importantly is a good story, good characters, and good gameplay. It has to be long enough, too. I feel like I repeated almost everything on the poll but, nonetheless. If there's no story, that kind of robs a lot from what could be a good experience. Good characters are necessary or else um... I would be annoyed. Good gameplay for the same aforementioned reason. I don't think somebody can just say that a good game can be made from only one single element (but I guess a really excellent story would be arguable).

Although I voted for "all of the above," i do have a ranking for each of those qualities. and here it is:#1: storyline. you've gotta have a purpose. otherwise, what's the point?#2: graphics. if its so ugly u cant bear to look at it... you probably wont.#3: characters you like. if you dont like the characters, you'll probably play to make them suffer or something. an iffy reason to play.#4: game system. if you cant get used to the game system, then u cant really enjoy the game. flexibility in the keys is also appreciated.#5: difficulty. if its too easy, its boring. if its too hard, its impossible. either a correct balance is necessary, or it will repel its target audience. the best solution is to make a difficulty setting.#6: full of things to do. wandering around doing nothing in a game is not a good way to keep a gamer's attention. too many things to do would get confusing, but the whole point is to keep you occupied.A good game needs the right amount of all of these. placing too much emphasis on one may cause the developers to neglect the rest, and the gamers dont want that. we all just want good games.

What makes a game good?... I love the question. Honestly, it's hard to say what makes a game good. What I look for in a game is usually a good storyline, as well as quality of music.. Good music is a must-have. The rest of the factors can either add or take away from that effect. I play games purely to experience the story and work the story into my muddled mess of a mind.. It gives me inspiration for my art/writings..

I like games that let you have a home, let you drive, let you walk around, let you talk to other characters, let you have a family maybe... basically games like the sims or gta.

Difficulty is key in a game. Can you imagine Fire Emblem easier. Like having +2 growths at a time or many really cheap characters? Or Black Hole Rising with idiotic AIs. The games would be pointless. Other things are important too but difficulty is up there. I also think a unique battle system would be great also like Yggdra Union.

Working on Knights in the Nightmare. Going to get around to Rondo of Swords. Hoping to find inspiration for Etrian.

I think the game needs to have lots of things that you could do, cause if it was only a one-way street with no twists and turns, then why bother playing it if it is not going to last you for more than a day of gameplay? For example I like Pokemon and Final Fantasy games because they both have a certain goal that you must obtain, but the road to it is long and even after, you could still get hidden items or secret locations, etc. I also would want the graphics to be great as well, otherwise I will less likely enjoy it, I am an Art Major at college, so it is pretty much a visual thing.

i think it is all that has been said above. because those are the good game's secret recipe. well, i just don't want one thing there. the fact that it takes a lot of things to do. i think it makes the game boring in the long run.

I say all of them because they are all important but the most important would be the length of the game and the storyline and full of things to do.

its dumb to say that one thing makes a good game, if you were playing a new game you would play it for the graphics until the storyline hooked you in however without that storyline you'll get bored and it won't be a very good game(coughdbzcough) however it doesn't matter if its got the greatest storyline evar!!! if the graphics suck then you won't even be interested in playing(ff7 was good graphics for the time so no using it as an example against this)

I think the story line has a great weight. However, the system is quite important too. For instance, I don't like the ones that deals strongly on cards, e.g. Yuugi-Oh. The graphics are not that important, since every game has its uniqueness.
