I don't think video games make people violent. I think adults just get pissed at them because they can't win and so they try to make them look bad. Or they can't stand the thought of not knowing something so they made up the video games excuse because they don't know the real reason.

No. Kids shoot up schools because other kids treat them like crap. End of story.

Videogames can effect your mood. But I think of it the same way Eminem put it with his music, "can it load a gun and rooster it too?". No videogame will control you and make you violent. I also agree with aeronite 17.

People were violent before video games. In fact, books caused much more blood to be spilled over them (the Bible and the crusades for example).

No. And if any of you say otherwise I will hunt you down and kill your entire family with a PS2 controller and the sharpened edge of a GTA disc.

Video Games can make you angry but not violent...Through the ideas of hackerx I'll hunt you down and beat you in the head with my xbox till you die (because it weighs like 10 pounds). And if that doesn't work I'll strangle you with the power cable...

How I see it, playing violent video games exposes people to those types of thoughts. But they don't make people decide to take those same actions, feeling, scenes and translate them over to real life.Anyways, violence obviously existed before video games, otherwise the designers wouldn't have known of such possible content that could be added. There's a nice cycle; real life feeding games feeding real life.Good thing it's not true for most people.

No, Video Games does not make someone violent. "It's all in the head" I say, and in this case people just have to blame something when someone goes nuts. All in their head it then goes....If you ask me, it's humans who makes other humans violent <_<

What does not make you violent I ask? Almost anything can be related to violence, so if someone was to pin it on videogame theoretically you would also have to blame the jerks who picked on that person in school, if they read; the books they read, parents and pear influences, money which corrupts absolutly, drugs, tv, board games ((they just make me angrey at times)), and of coarse genetics do play a little in it as well. SO everthing is to blame.

Video games don't make people violent, everything else makes people violent. The world in general. War and famine going on. There is so much in the world that makes people think so negatively.

And, people who play games are probably too busy playing games to go out and commit violent acts.

I don't think games make people violent. I just think they can be a catalyst for already violentish people. Oh course this is true for most media things. And those medias shouldn't be blamed for the actions of someone.

i'd say maybe it brings out the violence in people who are already violent, but i don't think it makes violent people.

Nah... Of course not!The people who came up with that idea are nothing more than lousy, busybody parents. Rather than take responsibility for letting their kids grow up wrong, they'd find something else to place the blame on. Pathetic!Pass the word: video games are innocent!

It's a complete crock based on the acts of a few people who 'apparently' were influenced by a Video Game. Unfortunately the way the legal system works you basically find something else to blame in an effort to reduce your culpability (least in this country). These are the sort of people who drive this agenda, I'm not to blame for my own actions as I was 'influenced' into acting that way! Yeah Right!!!!!!!I believe that VG's could cause a violent incident but this is as a result of a pre-existing conditon being exacerbated by the game. As opposed to it being caused by the game itself, it could just as easily have been a song, movie, poem, picture, almost anything. It would only act as a trigger and would'nt have been responsible for the actions of said person, as can be attested to by the millions of people who use/read/watch these products all the time with no direct ill effects

Nope, video games actually can be a release for anger as you take your stress out on the game instead of other people. I agree with Hawkfu that people are violent without the help of video games, I mean to say everyone who plays video games will be violent is a stereotype as not all games are violent. I can't imagine a person who only plays harvest moon and tetris to become a violent person because of those games.

Of course they do, but then again what doesn't make people violent? Though video games only affect a few people in the head, the majority ends up just playing a game. But now that video games has become such a popular icon in the media and everyday life, it becomes an easy scapegoat for people to tear at. You don't hear people complaining on non-functioning toasters that don't work or the copy machine that doesn't copy right turning people violent.

It's not the games that make people violent. it is the way you percieve the game you are playing.
