I think videogames don't make people violent. Someone stupid enough to try something he saw in a videogame should -not- cause the entirety of the blame to shift on the game. He was the idiot, the game didn't tell him to do it or that it was possible. And they don't show you killing is ok and such either, so shooting up a school is your fault any way you look at it if you do it. It's not the videogame's fault.

Correlation doesn't necessarily constitute causation.Claiming that video games make people commit violent crimes is like saying that cars make people commit violent crimes.If the people want to commit violent crimes, they'd find a way to harm another person one way or another.This line of thinking--that video games do cause people to commit violent crimes--is the result of people not wanting to accept the more complicated reason for the crime, and instead rely on a scapegoat to cover up for their own mistakes.

It's really one sided no matter which way you look at it. Anyone who thinks video games make people act violently will mostly stick to only their argument, rather than considering in full the opposition, and vice versa. The bias on this issue is horrible, as it's mostly gamers vs. non-gamers, or better put, experienced against the misinformed.And, uh, hi.

Going by natural instinct, we (ourselves) come first, and nothing else matters. So, if we (ourselves) are inconvenienced at all, then retribution is taken out on the less important entity that inconvenienced us.'Tis a simple matter of, we already suck, and it doesn't take much encouragement to spur us on to greater depth of suckyness. Music can do it, TV can do it, Movies can do it, Books can do it, Games can do it, someone phoning you up when you don't want to be phoned can make you want to kill someone.Violent imagery or not, if something aggravates you, you want to get rid of it. We don't need to be taught how to kill, or how to hurt someone.

I completely agree with you, I don't think that video games are the cause of children becoming more violent. I think that is because parents aren't discipling their children like they should anymore. Take for example some of the people from my school. Their parents never disciplined them and gave them everything they could ever want. That made them the biggest B****ES I have ever known, but the child that has its parents spank them and discipline them they will be amongst the best children.I don't think video games make people violent. I think adults just get pissed at them because they can't win and so they try to make them look bad. Or they can't stand the thought of not knowing something so they made up the video games excuse because they don't know the real reason.

Which is why every time some retard or his family tries to blame shooting up a school on video games I must surpress my urge to go out and do horrible, horrible things to said retard or his family or in extreme cases, random people and animals.We have violent video games so we can blow stuff up and kill people. We do that either for fun, or to relieve stress, or to imagine the person whose corpse we're shooting is someone that pissed us off recently.What happens when you take that away? Well, some certainly don't help any, and I don't think anyone is going to argue that.To be fair, playing a game like GTA a few times or occasionally won't make you a killer. Being sumersed in the enviroment, might not either, but it sure would tend to desensitise you to such themes. For instance, swearing. Or even seeing blood or gore. You certainly would'nt shriek in horror very much after playing RE4 all the way through a few times.However, for as much as games might desensitise people to violence, I don't think they quite prepare them for killing. Pushing buttons and swiveling a joystick is much diferent than holding a real gun, and pointing it at someone. If Military and police training has trouble preparing cadets for doign that, than I have serious doubts a video game could do much better.

depends on the age level if a kid who doesnt know much like a 7 year old plays a violent game like resi 4 hes probably going to either a. pee his/her pants or b. think its real and start to become violent ive noticed it on people

I heard that from a recent survey, that games like grand theft auto have actually lowered violence. since people can waste their time on that. but yep i think they are violence makers. depending on the game

I think that the violence comes from other sources such as teasing and a broken home, not from a video game. I play violent games all the time and not once have I shot up a school or robbed and killed a person. I think that video games is just another thing to ***** about.

No, it's essentially that violent people play violent video games. That's about he only link that you'll find. The video games didn't make them violent, they play them because they enjoy thier violent nature. That's not to say that all people who play violent video games are violent but it doesn't directly CAUSE anyone to become violent.

No offense intended.I guess there are psychopaths out there that enjoys clicking on the buttons just to see blood, but we call them psychopaths for a reason, don't we?Using games as a lame reason to say that games lead to social disorder is only for lame people, like the guy that said The Sims should be rated mature.
