Well yes, but on different levels...like for me if I am in the middle of playing a game and it turns off I would get mad but then just forget about it...but other people will go crazy. I don't really think they will "go" crazy I think they are crazy but that just triggers their insanity.

Parents always blame something for violence, back in the 80s people used to blame Dungeons and Dragons for violence and suicide and satanism.

People Say that violent video games cause people to become violent or commit violet acts so that they do not have to be responsible for there own actions.

Not at all, in fact it's the opposite. Games give people an outlet for their violence.

video games only make people violent around the ages of 4-12 or so... the kids that are affected by that usually arent raised very well by their parents too i think

I don't see video games making anyone violent in the long run. The only times I can, is when a hardcore game (or a Wii game) makes you throw the controller at the screen but that's all.IF someone were to blame video games on violence, I'd say video games are basically the same as movies and books. It's just there to be entertainment. Everything will obviously effect you, such as playing some scary game at midnight with the volume at max. The same goes for movie. But that just shows that you're getting your money's worth.

They shouldn't make people violent unless they are easily influenced, under the age of 13 or are really stupid. Games are meant to be played for entertainment or to be beaten, not reenacted at all.

There's often a sort of kneejerk reaction from gamers to say that "no, of course games don't cause violence!" Which is understandable, since there are a lot of people out there who spread false accusations that games are responsible for school shootings and such. But I think we should admit that any kind of violent entertainment, whether it be games, movies, books or TV, can desensitize people to violence. Which doesn't at all mean that they're going to commit violent acts in real life! But it could have bad effects on them, especially if they're children who don't have a good upbringing otherwise. So it's conceivable that violent entertainment could play a part in forming the character of someone who goes on to commit violent crimes. But in the end, it's always that person who decides what they're going to do. Nothing can make them pull the trigger but themselves. What's pretty obvious, though, is that most people who play games with violence in them do so in moderation and it doesn't have negative effects on them. So it's ridiculous to say that they should be banned. But we should be careful about giving them to children, etc.

Can video games cause long-term psychological changes if the person plays them obsessively for a long amount of time? Perhaps.Do they directly cause violence? No.Video games are a scapegoat, often made by parents who won't admit that maybe they're part of the problem. Video games are simply scapegoated because they're the newest format of entertainment. Just like television, movies, music, books, ect.

Little kida might see a thing or two that they may try to imitate from a video game, but kids that young don't have any business playing video games anyhow. as far as older kids/teens/adults go, I think if anything it reduces violence, as an outlet of sorts. It may not be true for everybody, but for me it is...to a point.

People were violent before video games. In fact, books caused much more blood to be spilled over them (the Bible and the crusades for example).

AMEN. ill be sure to quote you from now on, whenever a pesky game-hater comes around all hating and stuff.and i dont believe video games make people violent. although, since i got a taste of mirror's edge, i started running EVERYWHERE. and unnecessarily vaulting over objects. so, i look like a weirdo, but at least i get some exercise.

what violence in video games, or any other media for that matter, is desensitize us to violenceso when one is in a violent situation they are more prone to choose a more violent outcome, especial if one chooses to do so in a game.but the rest of the time your OK :)so "imo" gamers wouldn't be wimps in a fight.

Video games could easily influence those who are easily influenced, but they won't turn a smart person into a killer.

No video games do not make people violent.Infact I have a belief that unless you have (literally) mental issues, video games could be therapy-like.It your having a bad day you go play say gears of war or Loz and you go kill ganon again or whatever after playing,Dont You feel better? Its a form of media, entertainment and fantasy. If video games cause violent behavior, then so are books,tv,movies, the internet, and all other media, entertainment and fantasy outlets in existence.

there are no "real" studies that show a link between violence and video games. from the first video game i played there was always violence in varying levels of reality. i never let it influence me and i never did anything stupid after playing a violent game. its called PARENTING and thats whats wrong with America. people are always looking to pass the blame and this is one such situation where they are doing so. parents cant take responsibility for their kids doing something violent so they blame video games. parents and America needs to get on top of this and realize as long as a parent is there to guide a kid, video games dont mean jack

That question has been researched by psychologists worldwide for a few years now. Before that it was zombie-movies, gangster-rap, rock'n roll and even plain and simple novels (some centuries back). There is absolutely no proof that violent mediated content will make a person violent. It is still unknown in what way it affects character. Those are long-term effects that are very hard to isolate from other influence. Nevertheless some researchers do claim theyhave proof for or against it. There is however one thing that has been proven by scientists: Watching media with violent content changes our reaction towards violence for a short period of time. Violence becomes more present in our minds and we are quicker to accept the existence of actual violence and we become more aggressive. It is possible that this aggressiveness might turn into violence, but it does not make a person as such violent. That's pretty much the bottom line of what science has to say to this right now.
