If they do make 1 they'll jus use up all ur comp's memory with the massive file size of the roms and if u don't have a really good graphics card it'll probly mak ur comp run slowly or it won't work at all.

I don't think it's really so much a problem of todays computers not being powerful enough as it is just too hard to code a program to efficiently emulate such a complex machine.Like others have said, PS2 emulators have been out for a long time... our computers today are far more powerful than the PS2, but the emulators are just too inefficient. It seems the only likely way to have a decent PS3 emulator would be if someone successfully reverse engineers one.

I bet new computers are on the way that'll be able to handle PS3 capabilities. Otherwise, why would you need one? Just mod it :D. Okay, okay, don't "MOD" it.Who cares, just put a chip in it.

If anyone could it would take more than a decade to even have computers fast enough to run the emulator.

ummmmmmm you're retarded. ps3 games are developed and tested on computer emulators BEFORE they go to a ps3. Computers will always have better technology than consoles because consoles are just computers dedicated to the playing of games. the problem is that most average people won't have powerful enough computers. and trust me, 10 years from now, ps3 will look like crap so you're random guess at the amount of time it will take is total bs.think about it. gamecube hasn't even been around for 10 years(a little more than half that) and it already looks like crap compared to ps3/xb360/wii.

Emulation is a tricky thing, especially with such a powerful console. It'll happen eventually.

Of course computers will be powerful enough to handle it, just wait for quadcore and beyond cpus and DX10 graphics cards to make there appearences. I'd say in less than 2 years computers will be way ahead of the ps3. The problem isn't power, it's that the ps3 is not configured to run at all like a pc, so getting an efficient emulator is very very very difficult to do.

Make an emulator of a PS3? Why bother..., but isn't the PS3 like a computer now, or at least similar?

don't be such a darned friggin' fool.PS2 emulators barely work, and it's been along time since that came out, if they can't even get PS2 to run on these computers, how the hell you expect people to be able to create a functional PS3 emulator?

In a few years it will be possible, but that's when we'll have like 3-5 Terrabytes hardrives to hold the huge PS3 games that are ranging from 10-50GBs.

Porumy has got it spot on here. But how long will it take.Well PS2 Emulation is at the moment low and it has been out for a while, the CPU speed to run a game at good speed at performance requires a computer that is nearly top of the range now days.Looking at GB and Terrabyte hard drives we will have the space for PS3 ROMs and Games with in 2 years at least. However looking at CPU speed as it has risen over the last few years we will be waiting a while for a computer that has enough grunt in it to run a PS3 game in about 6 years or so minimum !So yes people will make the Emulators within a year perhaps but the stats of actually running one of these games at the required speed and performance shows we will be waiting a while, people starting high school will graduate by the time this happens.

I'd prefer people to work on current gen emulators rather than next gen. In time people will make a PS3 emulator... even if it is similar to Dolphin

probably anyone can get their hands on an emulator over the net, but there are hardly any places where you can get the games.I can never even find ps1 games or gamecube games!

CPU speed doesn't have to rise for processors to get more powerful, just look and the new core2 chips. If someone could make a multithreaded emulator than I don't see why it will take 6 years for processors to be powerful enough.

The terrabyte hard drive will be a huge achievement for computers just like when the first computer that had 1gig megahertz was done. Currently we only have 700 gigs and they cost in the thousands >.<

In Realistic terms, it's hard to say. Most computers would have to be insanely fast like lots of intel core 2 duo chips packed into a pc. Even then the PS3 rom size would span over 20 gigs at the most, and I have a 150kbps download speed, so do the math.

Hey they made a working PS2 emulator!! And the PS2 came out 5-6 years ago. Gauging that out, we'll have some PS3 emulators by 2012, also PS4 will be sold out and people will mourn the loss of the new Nintendo system, The Pii.
