I thinks its because pure Dragon-types are really strong and that's why you can only find them late in the games

Dragon type Pokemon are rare for the soul reason that with it comes power (if you train them enough). I mean there are a lot more common Pokemon you can get like Garidos or Charizard, hell even Aerodactyl that have the ability to learn dragon attacks, sure, but they still have big weaknesses from otehr elements, where as only dragons can really harm dragons.Having pure dragons like Salamence or Rayqayzar just makes things intersting, like "you are one of the few chosen to weild the power of dragons." It shows the importance of dragon type pokemon. At least that's the way I see it >>.....

I definitly think its too strong for other pokemon to defeat and they can learn attacks that is not in their type.

Because Dragon is a mystic animal only exist in people's mind, they've never seen them.

Yeah, We've all seen a fire-breathing lizard before :)

And an annoying little teleporter called Abra ^_^ The point in making few dragon types is that they are too powerful! If Nintendo had made more dragon pokémon then it wouldnt have been fun would it? Everytime you walk into an area with grass you get to fight a dragon pokémon, at first it may seem cool because dragon type = overpower, but after a while you get fed up with it of course. I think it's good that there are so few dragon pokémon, because then you get a challenge in catching them both with their power and the reason that there are so few so you will have to look for awhile before you find them.

Do you guys know what kind of attacks which don't work well on them? It's actually only elemental attacks except Ice. Ice works very well on these pkmn, and it's actually super effective. So is dragon type attacks. Well, new saying...fight dragon with dragon!

that thing in pokemon adds the excitement in catching those types. dragon pokemon are made to be rare so they could be depicted with legendary motif and, someone should strive for such strong species.

I am a dragontrainer too, they could learn most types of moves. It would be good if there is a pokemon which has Dragon/Ghost Type.

First of all, in Pokemon, Dragon types don't really have an advantage over any other type except for the fact they are strong. Second, Yu-Gi-Oh! already took all of the good Dragon designs.

well actually know there is dratini, dragonair, dragonite, kingdra, flygon, bagon, shelgon, salemance, latios, latias, rayquaza, vibrava, and there is 6 or more dragons in the new shinou or sinnoh region so that's 18 or more dragon types though that still isn't much at all

some pokemon have dragon traits, like sedra and charizard, but arent considered full dragons, as meantioned on the show when sedra evolves into kingdra it gains dragon traits.
