What a piece of ****.I just got one and it refuses to run most games. I can't get Phoenix Wright Justice for All OR Theme Park to run. I followed the guidlines on the m3 Wiki. What the hell is going on? I just get a blank screen.

most cases ur running on outdated firmware. update it and the game manager, then follow the instructions on M3Wiki and try again. it should work fine now1st post edited. im pretty sure i wrote it in there somewhere, but M3's have a tight fit to begin with. use it often and eventually it will wear out or something and will slide in much easier

I'm having a problem with two games-- Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin freezing randomly, and Lunar Knights isn't working at all. I have the latest firmware and I used the settings on the compatibility lists on the M3 Wiki, but that site's down now. When/if it comes back up I'll edit the settings back into here.

You can reduce chances the freezing on Castlevania PoR by turning off all sound and voices or find a faster card(eg Sandisk Ultra SD cards have less chances of freezing then a no name brand)

The card I'm using IS a Sandisk. Dunno about the "Ultra" tag though.

I use a Sandisk Ultra to play Castlevania and I rarely got freezes, you could play without any sound and save frequently. Its something to do with the card's speed the faster it is the better. Without sound theres less data transfer. Also I mean turn off the sound at the game menu not the DS volume control.

Well, I'm one of those pissy people with bugs and stuff not working right, so I think I'll pass on that one. Thanks for the info, though. Now Lunar Knights... it's on 1x speed, trim, no software reset, I think. (what's the hell's up with the M3 Wiki?)

Isn't Lunar Knights 64MBs?you should try 4X speed|Force R/W(if possible)|trim is optional along with software reset

I got Lunar Knights to run just now with 4x speed trim software reset, and deleted Portrait of Ruin. Thanks guys.EDIT: *sigh* The little problems just don't seem to end for me... okay, you know when you boot up your DS, the first thing it does is back-up the save file of the game you were playing before you turned it off last? Well, instead of having a proper name now it's changed to displaying "0820 (U~1DAT)" [0820 being the ID number of the game I've been playing, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All]. The same thing happens with all GBA and DS games I play. What's going on here and is it something I just be worrying about?

dont worry about it. its the same file, just getting displayed as a different nameto tell the truth i have no idea why things do that. (not only my M3 did it for a while, but my computer sometimes too). my guess is the file name is too big to display properly.aslong as the saves load up right, you needent worry

Having issues with my Mini-SD cart, figured I would just post in here instead of a new thread. Someone else might have a similar problem later anyway.Alright, first a few weeks ago playing Pheonix Wright 2 DS a bit into case 2-2 (lotta's testimony) the game froze on me. Then after that it would freeze at the start of that section or somewhere close everytime (generally when the Judge would speak). So I gave up on it. Then today my Pokemon Pearl file froze while fighting the Elite Four, which is odd as I've gone through them at least 20 times and my file's got 165 or so hours without a single problem til now. I've tried re-writing both roms various ways, reformatting the SD card and even using less input while playing (switching out pokes less for example) but Pokemon freezes after beating the first guy or before the fight ends and PW just froze after when Mia appears. Her text is stuck at "You see... There is one final pi" Music's still going but everything else stopped. Is there anything I could do to fix this outside of waiting for a new firmware? (mine's from early March IIRC)

My input consists of my saying that I've played through that exact same part on PW:JFA with my micro SD card and M3 Lite and I've only had it freeze twice, once when it ran out of battery (I fell asleep. :D ), and the other time when I dropped it about two inches onto my desk by accident. This is all using the latest firmware, by the way. Version 32.

Nevermind about the cheat thingy. But, how can you view media files on the M3 Simply?

This thread is for stuff about the Slot-2 M3. The Slot-1 M3 Simply has its own thread here. :shifty:

Use moonshell, it can play MP3's view text and graphic files and play converted video files. If its called _DS_MSHL.NDS then you can run it from the main menu using the multimedia button

Well pokemon's been working right since this morning. haven't re-written it or anything. PW still isn't going though. Any suggested write method?

Mmm... I use the M3 Wiki whenever possible to check every single game I put onto my card. If I recall correctly it was written at 4x speed, soft reset enabled, trimmed ROM.

Yeah, thats what I have for it right now.Maybe I should try safe mode or something if it keeps freezing. I do think its odd that it freezes before I can get to the next part everytime though.

New post.'Kay, so one of my friends wanted to play Elite Beat Agents, so I created a separate save file for her by going into the M3 Game Manager and clicking "Create Blank". I named it appropriately and it popped up there. I pull the SD card out of the computer and test it in the DS, okay, so all the game data is reset and whatnot, good. I turn off the DS and turn it back on to see if my data in the first save file was still there and OH SNAP that's all gone too. This, understandably, pisses me off. Not only that, the other button "Create Saver", doesn't seem to do ANYTHING. What I should have done was copy my own save file to the computer temporarily, but hell, too late now. What's the proper way to do something like this (create two completely separate save files for one game on the M3), so that it doesn't happen again?

Have you tried using the select function to select which save file you needed? Also you could try copying your save file, rename it then use create saver on the copied file

ur post isnt exactly descriptive at this part. but the M3 will save its files when its turned on after its last use. maybe this is the problem.ie if u were to play EBA on ur save, swap out the save file for a new one, and then play again it will save it upon start up and u will be in ur own save file again. whereas if u were to play it, turn it back on, turn it off again and now swap out the files. it should work fine

Okay, I think I figured it out on my own this morning when I was in a hurry. If you two could confirm...please? In the M3 Save Manager... the save file that's listed as "Default" (and is most likely named exactly the same as the name of the ROM) is overwritten every time you reboot the DS with whatever state the game was in when you turned the DS off last. If you need to create two separate save files, you:1. Create TWO blank .dat backup save files associated with the game, name them appropriately (in this case I used "MyName - EBA" and "HerName - EBA"), then put the SD card back into the M3 and back into the DS.2. Turn on the DS, play the game for any amount of time, then turn it off. This saves the game's state into the DEFAULT file for that ROM, yeah?3. Turn on the DS again, and it'll do that auto-back up thing. After it's finished, you press select, which shows you the last file backed up (the default file for the last game you played), then select a blank backup save file to copy the state from the default save file. (I copied it from the default save into "MyName - EBA")4. Continue playing as normal by selecting the default file, the game will continue backing up the DEFAULT save file. When you want to SWITCH save files again, you have to press select and copy the state from the DEFAULT file to the backup file ("MyName - EBA"), then you can select the other backup file ("HerName - EBA") when you're booting up the game which will load into the DEFAULT and then it'll continue overwriting the DEFAULT file until you use the "Press Select" thing to back up and switch again......Wow, I think that was too complicated even for me. XD Anyways, does that...sound...correct? XD ... ... Christ. I can't follow it myself. XD

Just keep the two different save files in seperate places on your computer or in locations besides the NDSSAVE folder on your SD card. And remember to make the M3 back up the file before you go to switch which one you want to play.AKA, when you finish playing one file. Turn the DS off, then back on so it can back up the file then off again. Then copy that file to wherever you keep it and put the other file in the directory over the one before.I do that all the time since the manager has problems making or changing save files for me.Also Pokemon's working fine still. I managed to advance in JFA using the temp save and backing it up to my computer. but now its freezing when I cross examine Trilo.
