I did a search and didn't see any topics on Dark Crusade, so I figured I might as well start one. Anyone here been playing the new Dark Crusade expansion? It's the best RTS I've EVER played, and I've played quite a few of them in my days. It's just a shame how under-appreciated it is compared to games like Starcraft and Warcraft, when Relic has really come up with a fun and unique style of RTS gameplay that sets their games apart from others. The campaign mode in their latest expansion is a GREAT improvement over previous installments of the game, too, with a risk-like overworld where you conquer the planet one sector at a time, all 7 of the races with their own storylines involved, and two new races, the Necron and the Tau, just to give a bit of information about the game to those who may not have heard of it.So far I'm enjoying it quite a bit, but it's a very much different game than it was pre-Dark Crusade. The SM Grey Knights and the Ork's flash gitz are probably the best new units in the expansion for the existing races I've found so far. I haven't really played much chaos or eldar though, so I haven't gotten a chance to use the daemon prince or harlequen. I've tore some **** up pretty badly with the new Heavy Weapons Team the Imperial Guard just got, too. Their autocannon upgrade is amazing against certain races.I haven't played much Tau yet, but as far as the Necrons go, they're immensely powerful with a unique playstyle that sets them apart from the other races without making them too powerful or too weak.

I'm playing DC recently and its pretty good. I played DOW and WA beforehand so I found DC to be a great addition. The only problem I have is playing the same maps over and over when you play as a different side. I can only slaughter thousands of enemies while plowing my way through the map so many times before getting bored. Oh and the Imperial Guard got the shaft. Leman Russ tanks are now 5 vehicle points EACH and are capped at 2! Awful, considering their other vehicles suck. (That artillery piece is impossible to use offensively since the AI usually double/triple teams you.)

If you're having trouble with the campaign, chances are you're rushing into things too fast. In single-player you will almost always be outnumbered (in the Orc stronghold base you're actually facing FIVE different sides, Eldar base 3 sides, Imperial Guard 4 sides, you get the idea) so rushing is pointless. Lame as it is, a drawn-out battle is really the only way you can win some of the missions. (The Necron stronghold is impossible to rush due to TWO operation Necron fortresses guarding the final entrances. The Space Marines start off with Whirlwind tanks bombarding your base on top of a hill and the Chaos Marines have the blood pulse and will send a Bloodthirster to attack you essentially forcing your offense to stop.)

I've been wanting to buy this game ever since it went out. Too bad games are too expensive here in the Philippines... I'd have to wait a little more before I can buy this game. But I've played the demo, and so far, I can conclude that this expansion is the best expansion to the Dawn of War series. I have yet to see the individual stats per race, and I'm really hoping they didn't nerf the Space Marines too much this time.

Its a pretty low requirement game. The game engire is 2 or 3 years old and well optimized by this point. If you can run Doom 3 or Half-Life 2 without it becoming a slideshow, you can play DoW:DC.

I have, it fun an all, but its a pain in the butt when you try to defend a piece of land from ememie atk when the strength of yours is 5 while your enemy has 3 bases an a strength of 10.

The Tau are overpowered with their no limit Knarloc units xxxgamer <.<The single-player hero is 1-army wrecking crew if you get full wargear. The Tau commander can become a stealth unit (read: kill detector units to cause havoc), the Imperial Guard's is nearly impossible to kill off since hes constantly apart of a Command Squad (and thus can be reenforced on the spot), the Necron Lord is rebuilt wherever he dies (research the transformation ability for temporary invunerability and smash key buildings), and so on.As I said before, just play the (single-player) game slowly, and it'll be a breeze.

I just tried this game at a LAN shop yesterday, I was instantly hooked. Good stuff. Can any one confirm form me if we need the Main game (warhammer 40K) or if this can just be played like a stand alone.

Well although they say "expansion", its really a standalone game, which means its not an expansion. One thing I dont' like about this game is how they limit the numbers of units to a cap of 20, and then raise it just slightly to 23 or so, after you go through a lot of intense battles. But I usually use some cheats to bypass that.

Tau are by far the most pansiest and most annoying race every. The tau army is like the chaos havoc squads on ice. And that is why i use them myself....Long range camping and the ol' cross fire attack move progression

i beat the game with both necron and tau. necron are like a train, they start very slowly but pick up speed untill they are an unstoppable force. best item is the res-orb for the necron lord, you send in waves of your guys until you have a mountain of corpses and the enemy is weakened badly, then you use it and BAM!! new army.
