the storyline was great, but in the later parts of the game i felt myself getting bored. The game had no suprises like others since it cut away to the scenes. You would no stuff before the characters which as i player, i want to find out when they do. SPOILER!!!: when Vayne kills the emperor i'd like someone to tell the characters and THEN cut to how it happened.

it had a good plot and everything but it didn't seem to have been executed well, I mean, I bought it early for $50 but it's been I'd say 6-8 months and it's already dropped to $20 even though crappier RPG's like .HACK//GU series are still selling at $30 n $40 -_- anyways, back to FF XII, just my 2 cents on some elements of the gameGraphics: Excellent, especially the introduction, but after the introduction, it feels like they cut down on other scenes. Sometimes, they'd just randomly insert CGI of the group flying in the airship to a location, nothing particularly important really; their also extremely short, it's like the opposite of Xenosaga were the scenes were too long, it's too short.Storyline: Interesting to say the least; theres quite a bit of political themes involved. Hm not much more to say about that.Gameplay: Aside from the real time combat system, the newest addition that stands out most is the gambit system where you can create a setup for your characters to do specific actions against/to certain enemies/allies. Also, gameplay is INCREDIBLY stretched out by the sidequests. The marks (basically bounties) extend play time, especially the harder ones -_- like the last bounty that has like 5 million HP and even allows players to exit the screen, regroup, and come back to fight it without regaining it's hp x.x BTW before playing the game, EVERYONE should read about how to get the ultimate weapon in the game...or else :P Characters: This is where the entire game sinks like rock. This FF may have THE WORST character development ever. The only characters that receive an ample amount of it is Fran and Balthier. Ashe comes next and then the remaining characters. One last thing, I STILL don't know why Penelo is in there. She's like a tag-a-long extra to help balance the male-to-female ratio or something because she hardly develops at all throughout the entire game.

FFXII was supposed to be a game in the series that took an extremely different turn. It's supposed to be very serious and political. In a sense, it was more realistic and less fantasy. There was too much serious business going on for any romantic developments. The battle system was something new that they wanted to try out. They probably got the idea from the design of Final Fantasy XI's no random encounters. It seemed SquareEnix also tried to to integrate parts of FFX game style into FFXII such as the grid and grid point structure, for one.

it was awesome, im guessing by "Think its gonna be a hit, or a crash n burn of the series?" that this was written from a not yet played perspective, and to all those out there wondering if it will be a crash and burn i have a couple of things to say:yes it did change quick, but change is goodonce you know what you are doing it is fun to play no matter what your first thought of it was.i highly recommend it

I thought it was, in many ways, a new high for the series. It's definitely one of the best PS2 games out there. While it doesn't quite recreate the magic of VII/VIII in terms of the plot and style, it is technically superior.

I really liked this game. I loved obtaining the weapons and defeating bosses. What I did not like is how most of the summons look like floating fortresses I like when they look more like "Addremelech". It took me twice as long to get Tournesol as it did to beat the game. I just have really bad luck.

i thought it was pretty good. i had 50 or so hours logged on my memory card when it got wiped. so i had to start all over again. but i kinda lost interest in the game. FF12 doesn't really have replay value, i think. too long

Story started off ok but then it got crap and lots of characters were forgotten. The gameplay of the game was just amazing, I loved it and I spend hours and hours on this game beating all the marks I can find and so forth.

I look at this game as the opposite of FFX. FFX was a lot more story diven, while the world was basically a straight line, and battles were the epitome of turn based. FFXII had a a story that to me, wasn't as intricate, but the world was much bigger, and he battles were better. So, in my opinion, FFX: better story. FFXII: better gameplay.

Turn based will always be my cup of tea - its just how I roll.Fantastic graphics. The license board system seemed to be just a cheap knock off of the very enjoyable FFX Sphere system. At least everyone in the Sphere system had their own role for AWHILE, until you could get to other people's areas. In FFXII, everyone can do everything...and thats boring.Story was "good", but almost a total lack of character development left me wanting. An epic story without characters to care about within that story is not an epic story at all.Also...the fact that money is so hard to make in FFXII is probably one of the worst things about it, because it forces everyone to become a healer rather than spend money on healing items (what would you rather buy, new armor/weapons, or the next round of Hi-Potions?)All in all...probably my least favorite Final Fantasy. Not that I didn't enjoy it, but compared to the others it was sub-par. Yes, even to FFVIII.

this certainly is a bit of a change from the previous final fantasies. I guess some people might like it. It gives you less time to think before you act. All the characters seem weak though, there's hardly a need for break damage limit or anything simply cause it's hard to even deal such damage.

I like the Gameplay, storyline could use some work tho.The Licence grid is a bit more easyer to deal with then the one for FFX, and the fact that you can use any weapon on any character is also good so you can set your character's how you want them. I still think that they should of had the characters set for different things like the past FF games. If you want to try somethin new in the RPG area, i would say to play this game and see how you like it, or get it just to try it, its a fun game.

I thought the graphics were spectacular. The battles were also incredibly fun. The story line was pretty bland and almost all the characters are unavoidably loathsome.A couple notes on the dungeons: They are incredibly intricate and beautiful, mazes, architecture, everything. The problem is, a couple of the last dungeons are really tedious and boring and also difficult becaues the save points are so far apart.A couple notes on the summons: The summons are all super dazzling but they are generally too weak to ever be used in battle and the rare ones take an inhuman amount of time to acquire. This last fact is also true for the ultra rare items and equipment.

The battle system is actually not all that different from previous Final Fantasy titles. The main differences are you can see the enemies before the encounter, and the characters (and enemies) can actually move around. Other than that it's basically just good old RTB-attack/magic/summon/item/flee...

I originally liked FFXII but eventually the battle system got boring to me. I like the full action RPGs so I cannot wait for FFXIII versus!

this game is just plain awesome. man the new battle system is sick, though hard. The espers are so cool with their "overdrives" and the new weapons, and referance to other final fantasy items/characters is awesome. Like the bahamut airship.
