yes i have and man is that nasty and i lost my favourite game luckily my friend owed me some money and so i got it backMy favorite game for a while was Warcraft III TFT, and I played for LONG periods of time. Eventually, small scratches started appearing in the disk, but it still ran fine. Those scratches started to get bigger and bigger, yet it would still work. Eventually, one day I started playing, any put my beat-up copy of TFT into the drive and loaded it up, but then there was this odd sound of something jamming coming from the comp. I opened up the drive, and found my game had shattered into about 10-12 pieces.I spent a good hour fishing the pieces out that had lodged themselves into the back and sides of the drive. What I think happened was that the scratches finally broke through the other side, making hairline cracks in the disc, and the next time I put it in, the high speed of the drive spinning the disc caused the disc to break and fly apart, of balancing it and causing mor damage to the disc, causing more pieces to break apart.Has this every happened to you? If so, what CD?

Standard drives are made such that they normally shouldn't smash the CD/DVD even at top speeds (if there was always a risk of destroying CDs at high speeds, would manufacturers even allow such speeds? ). If anything, it's usually the low-quality material of the CD that causes such damage. No, I never ran one at a high enough rpm to do that.
