There are a few nice things:- lower gamespeed (finally it's not Speedsmackdown anymore)- up to 3 counters in a row(A nice addition, but still they should use the system of WMXXI. Even if the game was not really good, the countering system was the most realistic out there)- Stamina System. Games like Fire Pro got that since years, finally it's coming to the Smackdown-Series- This time we will get at least 2 years of season mode without repeating + some chars have a season mode, too (they already said that for HCTP and SVR...let's see if it will be included this time)

Knowing Yukes, the stamina system will be half-assed and barely matter, like those stupid face/heel specials fomr the first one. And as long as the sotry mode has voice overs, that means i can't switch up the rosters, so it already fails there. But i'll leave it it on frantic speed. Makes it fun

Uhm sorry but even if you HATE wrestling, wrestlinggames are something you should at least try. They are an own genre and I prefer wrestlinggames over beat em ups and so on because they are more fun. Instead of 10 sec fights you can even have sometimes matches of a hour or more(if your opponent is good). Lots of fun. Really you should try them before judging.

~This news was posted for those who don't know about it~ EnjoyPresumptuous as it may be, it's safe to say that SmackDown vs. RAW 2006 is definitely heading towards the same kind of lofty acclaim given to 2003's big man on campus, Here Comes the Pain. Even now in its earliest form (a pre-alpha build that's as barebones as you can get), the game is already a noticeable improvement over last year's strong but subdued follow-up. In fact, based on what I've seen so far, THQ has listened to its fans this season more than ever -- providing so many new features, modes, and subtle gameplay additions that it eclipses all other SmackDown sequels.Take, for example, the large graphical improvement. To make things as realistic as possible, the artists have gone back to the beginning and reanimated 40-50% of all animations in the entire game. Not only does this mean that a good chunk of the in-ring moves have been completely overhauled, but every single cutscene and ring entrance has been redone from scratch as well. Even better is the fact that those same entrances and cutscenes have been motion-captured for the utmost in authenticity -- whereas only a few of those moments had previously been mo-capped and reused for the entire franchise. This attention to detail really shines through in wrestler entrances too, as every ringwalk that I've witnessed so far matches up with its real life counterpart almost exactly. Triple H, for instance, has retained the same cocky nuances in his digital strut that he has in real life -- from the way he throws his bottle into the crowd to the way he poses after spraying water out his mouth. Entrances are also helped by the fact that Yuke's has finally turned off the time limit that cut the previous ringwalks short (which was usually kept to a minute or less). Now, if a stroll to the arena is supposed to take two or three minutes to complete in real life, that's also how long it'll take to complete in the game. A couple times I even noticed alternate camera angles during the same wrestler's ringwalk, but whether or not that's an actual feature or just a result of the earliness of the build is hard to say.Another impressive graphical upgrade comes in the form of wrestler skin tones, hair, and textures. Just look at the hulking Batista who looks exactly like the real thing. From the incomplete dragon tattoo on his back to the veins flowing through his heavily-exercised chest, the level of realism here is rather impressive. To achieve this, THQ meticulously scanned the faces of each of the WWE superstars and divas so that they are as accurate to their real world counterparts as possible. And when you add the entirely 3D polygonal crowd (last year's was a mix of 2D and 3D), enhanced lighting and pyro effects, and the fact that every character's eyes follow the movements of their opponent, you have all the elements necessary for some kick-donkey visual entertainment.Unfortunately, because of the early nature of the build I played for this preview, all wrestler entrances are incomplete. TitanTron videos, the correct background music, voice-overs, and the majority of the sound effects aren't even in the game yet (which leads me to wonder just how cool the final ringwalks may ultimately turn out to be). At least wrestlers, ring announcers and commentators appear in and outside the ring during the introductions, though, which at the very least adds a nice and long overdue presentational touch.~That's basically it for now...i'll keep y'all up-to-date when more info comes~ And stop complaining and STFU about it not looking great..because what you saw is an early build and the new stuff like Momentum Meter and Stamina can be turned on/off so stop complaining..especially you thievingmexican..if you like FirePro go make a FirePro thread. I made this thread for the people who are interested in the game...if you got nothing good 2 say about it, don't post!!

Yes, new animations and entrances. About damn time. This means we'll have to wait 4 more years before we get new ones. It's funny becuase it's true . Hope we get to customize entrances for our CAWs. Get a Punk one coming out to Just Close Your Eyes or a UW running down the ring like London does know. Seriously, anyone get UW flashbacks with London?. I want Batista's machine gun cabbage patch!!!. THis is the RKO animation i wantPosted ImageThat's a good RKO(heh, that's almost an oxymoron)Also, i heard the B&P match has been changed to a Fulfill your fantasy match. Raise your hand if you're skipping that mode.Wait, so if it's like HCTP, does that mean it retains the grappling system? All they kept focusing on was the shininess of the new graphics and not actual gameplayAnd i don't care what you say, you have cena in your name. I post where i want to post, and that could be mocking SD or saying good things about it

When they said the part about HCTP they meant that the game will recieve the same "new to the series" comments as HCTP did. And the RKO in the game is two-handed, but when you have one finisher stored and you build up your momentum again you do a Super Clean move...for Randy Orton it is a One-handed RKO variation much like the one you have there but with a bit more height...and for Batista it is a Super Sitdown Powerbomb(never seen it though)

Mother freaker, I don't want the one handed one. It's too diamond cutter for me, and the diamond cutter is easily the greatest out of nowhere finisher ever. Which vid is it in?And what's with the super sitdown Powerbomb? why not just call it the Super Batista Bomb. Seriosuly, the onyl thign i can think of that will amke it super will be a top rope one, but that can't be itIs there a vid that has the Pedigree in it? I don't want the one with the guy flopping at the end

~*~The Sleeper Hold System~*~The Sleeper Hold System is one of the many new additions to WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006's list of new gameplay features. Designed to further recreate the drama of actual WWE programming and mimic the in-ring behavior of WWE Superstars, the new Sleeper Hold System attempts to faithfully capture the setting and situation of a wrestler held captive by his opponent in a sleeper move.Everything from the referee's rising of the captive Superstar's arm to check his consciousness, to the eventual three-count KO has been replicated by Yuke's. Keep in mind, though, that the new Sleeper Hold submission isn't a customizable grapple similar to the many selectable attacks in the game's Create-A-Move feature; every Superstar will have the ability to perform the new modified Sleeper Hold as easily as they would performing a pin. Essentially, once a player has inflicted enough damage upon an opponent's head, the new Sleeper Hold submission becomes available for use.For example, if the player-controlled Superstar has a regular Sleeper Hold submission already assigned to his or her move set, once the proper amount of damage has been inflicted on the opponent, the player's regular Sleeper Hold submission will be converted into the new Sleeper Hold submission. Once locked into the hold, the CPU or human opponent will have three attempts to escape the submission hold or perform a reversal in a desperate attempt to turn the tables on the attacker. If the player should fail to escape from the hold before the referee reaches a final count of three, the match will be lost by KO.For those WWE Superstars and Created Superstars who don't have Sleeper Hold submission assigned in their move sets, however, players will have the ability to initiate the new Sleeper Hold System on their opponents by situating prone opponents into sitting positions and performing down grapples once the appropriate amount of damage has been dealt.~*~Playing Possum~*~As true WWE fans are aware, brute strength alone will only carry a player so far inside the ring. The true greats in WWE history demonstrated equal amounts of athletic in-ring ability as well as a sharp, keen intellect. As such, another new addition to the SmackDown vs. RAW 2006 feature set is the ability to "play possum" or feign an injured state while lying prone on the mat, allowing players to take their opponents by surprise and secure a quick pin fall.Think back to WrestleMania 21 where a seemingly incapacitated Kurt Angle played possum and was able to lure Shawn Michaels into a false sense of security before quickly springing into action and applying his signature ankle lock on HBK. This type of action will give players an idea of what they can expect from the new "Playing Possum" feature.By successfully filling the momentum meter during a match, players will be presented with two options: attempt to perform a finishing move on an opponent or store a Superstar's WWE finishing move icon and use it at a later time during the match. Storing a finishing move icon will grant players the ability to perform a "Possum Pin" on their opponents. While in possession of a stored finishing move and lying prone on the mat as a result of an attack from an opponent, a "Possum Pin" can be performed by holding the Circle button and correctly countering any attempted grapple or strike from the opponent. If successfully performed, a player's downed, seemingly injured Superstar will quickly leap into action and roll the unassuming opponent into a much stronger and harder to kick out of pin hold. That's all the info for now...enjoy :D

Can you use the sleeper system to slowly regain stamina while inflicting damage on the opponnet? And the possum system will probally be useless. I actaully think it will slow down a match and hamper it more then it helps

I saw the video for playing possum..it really isn't that spectacular...kinda looks crappy the cutscene... but like they said, it's still being tweaked so i wouldn't put to much hate on this feature as yet.

the sleeper hold system and the possum thing make it real. dont hate on the game. this game will probably better than hctp because of graphics, and all new matches and gameplay things like stamina and momentum.

The Roster will be up-to-date and expect a batch of new Legends like Hulk Hogan, Jimmy Hart...and a few other new ones. This brings the roster size to like 60+ Superstars and Divas and 10+ Legends :ph34r:But you guys probably know this by now...

~*~ More news on THQ's next brawler....just confirmed.~*~ :o One of the most talked about features of THQ's WWE SmackDown series every year is always its roster. A heated topic of debate no matter who's on it (and who isn't), the superstar lineup is viewed by many as something that can make or break the game in an instant.... and our dedicated readers have been asking us about the latest roster situation for weeks. Luckily for them, we can confirm that this year's character collection is one of the biggest yet seen in a wrestling game thus far -- with 50 different superstars and divas in all, and an undisclosed amount of legends to be revealed later. If that sounds like a lot, that's because it is.As an added bonus, THQ has also confirmed the locations of its 19 different venues. Though it's still possible that a 20th bonus arena may still be included, 19 of them are definitely making the cut. What are they you ask? Well in no particular order they are: SmackDown, RAW, Velocity, HEAT, SummerSlam, Unforgiven, No Mercy, Survivor Series, Armageddon, Royal Rumble, No Way Out, WrestleMania 21, Backlash, Judgment Day, Vengeance, The Great American Bash, New Year's Revolution, ECW One Night Stand, and Taboo Tuesday. Sound good? Cool.Current Superstars Batista - The Hurricane - Rob Conway The Big Show - J.B. Layfield - Rob Van Dam Booker T - John Cena - Scotty 2 Hotty Carlito - Joy Giovanni - Shawn Michaels Charlie Haas - Kane - Shelton Benjamin Chavo Guerrero - Khosrow Daivari - Snitsky Chris Benoit - Kurt Angle - Spike Dudley Chris Jericho - Lita - Stacy Keibler Chris Masters - Michelle McCool - Steven Richards Christian - Mark Jindrak - Sylvain Grenier Christy Hemme - Muhammad Hassan - Tajiri Danny Basham - Orlando Jordan - Torrie Wilson Doug Basham - Paul London - Triple H Eddie Guerrero - Randy Orton - Trish Stratus Edge - Rene Dupree - The Undertaker Eugene - Rey Mysterio - William Regal Heindenreich - Ric Flair ~*~ That's the finalized roster...but the Legends are still to be announced. And if possible...tomorrow i'm gonna start the Countdown featuring one wrestler a day. ~*~

Now lets take a look at those that have been released from their contracts.Muhammed Hassan, Joy Giovanni, Charlie Haas, Daivari, Mark Jindrak, Spike Dudley, One of the Bashams and Sylvian Grenier. Really excellent of them to put in so many superstars that are now no longer members of the roster.

Let me remind you that making wrestlers for a game isn't just something that can be done in a day....it takes months. Be thankful that there are a batch of new faces from last year and that some people who aren't visible in the roster are pre-made as CAW's. And with the all new Create-An-Entrance you could re-create their entrance.

Muhammed Hassan, Joy Giovanni, Charlie Haas, Daivari, Mark Jindrak, Spike Dudley, One of the Bashams and Sylvian Grenier.

Hassan and Daivari are still there, just not being used. We're getting 3 month rule'd there. Both Bashams are still employed, so is Grenier. Besides, the one that aren't there anymore will get cutOk, when IGN starts releasing the stats, don't leech off IGN. Save the pic yourself and host it on Imageshack
