Well, the name entries are taken by the blue flames until a certain point, and then through magic, on the night on which the contestants are to be chosen, it spits out the slips of paper with the chosen contestants names'.

Go more in-depth than that. What does red fire mean, and what does no fire mean?

There was red fire when the name of a champion was given & when the fire went out it meant that the goblet has made its choices & it won't be lit until the next tournament.

Ooh, that's a tough one to remember all of them. I know there was a grindylow, and a boggart, and Lupin did turn into a Werewolf in his office. If you count it, Harry's stag patronus appeared there too. I can't think of any others at the moment.

She led her with the excuse of showing her Dumbledore's "secret weapon" but expecting to find the centaurs so they could help them against Umbridge.

I don't think she led Umbridge to the forest for the centaurs, I thought she led Umbridge out there to let Grawp "play" with her. Really, she was trying to improvise a way to get Umbridge out of the thick of things.

trancebam, I'm almost certain that Hermoine led Umbridge into the forest because she knew that Dolores would incense the centaurs with her racist- I mean, specist- bigotry. Well, I'm not entirely sure about what you mean, however I'm going to guess that it's the Goblet of Fire. I'm sure there's a name for the competition, but it seems to be slipping my half-conscious mind at the moment

One of the ancient traditions I can think of is the sorting ceremony. The founders of the school enchanted the sorting hat to sort the first years into the four houses.

None of these answers are correct. The Triwizard Tournament was an inter-school tradition not confined to Hogwarts, and the Sorting Ceremony changed with the introduction of the Sorting Hat. What part of Hogwarts's machinations remained from the school's inception?

How about the first years always ride the boats across the lake when they arrive at Hogwarts for the first time.

trancebam's answer is not accepted because, from what I recall, the Houses were not originally simple separators for Quidditch. Of the boats, I am unsure. I believe I will refine the question. What specific feature of Hogwarts had existed since the school's creation- and was confirmed as such?
