As long as the graphics get the job done, they don't need to be flashy. Too many RPG's today are all about the graphics and how it looks, while neglecting the all-important gameplay. Though you can say that about a lot of games these days.

Story! STORY! It can look like old school NES graphics, but if it has an awesome story, I'll play it over and over again!

Although I am one of the more insignifigent gamers in the world, I personally like story over graphics, because if the graphics are horrid, I can read the good story on a plot transcript somewhere.

Both are important, that's the truthbut I guess the storyline have more importance to me, cause I'm getting tired of always having the same style of characters, the same vilans, the same bosses, the same skillsThe RPGs need to inovate, create new styles, new storylines, new endings, make twists in the game that make us be impressedFFs in the good times had it, Xenogears had it, Chrono Trigger had it, but now they're boringI guess I miss the good times of RPGs :Dsorry for the poor English, I'm from Brasilthank you

I'd say that story is more important, but graphic is important too. If graphic is good and the story is very good, the game will very nice to play.

You need both really.. like all those older FFs, i dont even go near just bc they have crappy graphics. like i know its kinda shallow but looks do count. then again those games with sweet graphics and no story or a bad story are not as fun and u dont get into them really.

I prefer story, but the Graphic is also important but there are many good old games with a bad graphik that I like (In that time the graphic was great) ^^

Story is best, but with just enough graphics to make it bearable.

Both are important but if I would have to chose between two of them I would go for the story. Would you rather have a good game your interested even though it doesn't have the best graphics? Or would you rather have the best graphics in the world with a storyline that doesn't make sense and it's so stupid that you don't even want to play? I think I like playing the game and having fun better than looking at the TV and saying how amazing is this little blade of grass I can see on my PS3 but not my Wii.

I have a mixture 90% Story 10% Graphiks, because the best story with the best graphics is a ruined game to me. THe game shoud have a minimum of graphik in it.

The story is what keeps me glued to my chair while playing RPGs, so I guess I kinda had to vote for that one.

I look at the story first, then the gameplay, and lastly, graphics. What good is a game if it doesn't really make sense?

lol, i think some of the first final fantasy's and Zelda games proved that the story is often more important than the graphics

Preferable I rather a game scored high in everything. BUt gameplay and story are most important....graphics and music and stuff just make gameplay more bearable for long hours.

Great example of why story is more important, Final Fantasy. Look at todays graphics and the fact that Final Fantasy VII is still considered the best game of the series (some say best game ever). I prefer FFVIII honestly, but as for this example, FFVII works better.
