I think that the story is definitely the most important because there are games like The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time and Disgaea (Good sprites, but not good "graphics") that are really good but have not-so-good graphics

There are too many games around now that worry about how pretty the scene looks and ignore how good the story is. While awesome graphics may catch your eye right off the bat...a great story is what's going to keep you coming back to play the game over and over

Every successfully game has great visual Graphics as well as a fantastic story. The story is actually more important because it can help developers plan future titles and it gives the game a uniqueness that makes it stand out from other games. Graphics can always be improved but when it is in demand the developers have to offer such as the exclusive titles for PS3.

I kinda think story should be more of the focus especially for RPG's. I mean, for FPS and real-time games, graphics are helpful and better than story cause you play those for fun, not for story. But RPG's are played for story and plot. Thats why games like Fire Emblem do so well: even without the great graphics, their plot is fairly good, so people play them

story is defentively crucial for a game, but graphic is even more so for replayability value

You neeed a good mixture of bothI have played final fantasy x on the ps2, and enchanted arms on the xbox 360 recently. and have made a comparison. there are very simalar games. enchanted arms is the better looking it doesn't hold a candle to the Story in Final Fantasy. And Final Fantasy is the better game. i hope my insight has helped.

Obviously both are beneficial, but graphics don't matter to me. If graphics really mattered, the largely text-based RPGs of old wouldn't have sold very well and there wouldn't be any RPGs at all.

I think that as long as you can make out who is speaking and what they are doing the story of a game is the most important thing.

graphics arent a requirement with RPGs, for example the final fantasy games for GBA, i could play those all day and they dont have great graphics. But if a game has story and good graphics, well then thats just a bonus XD

Really, i believe that the graphic dont matter, as long as the storyline is good, and easy to follow. Although, good graphics are a nice touch! ^-^

Most RPGs have very poor writing and characterization. Just a whole lot of formuliac layouts. Boring. So when one comes out that's actually interesting, that's pretty cool.

Story. I don't care how horrible the graphics are, just as long as it gets me hooked into the game in an emotional lvl.

The story hands down. If the story is enthralling enough, my imagination will make any sort of graphics pale in comparison.

Story all the way.Unless they're glitchy and ugly, I never buy (or refuse to buy) a game based on graphics alone. Then again, I put up with FFVIII's graphics.

I think that if it has a great, meaningful story, then the graphics can take a hit. As long as the story can carry the game, I'll play the crappiest looking RPG. For me, its about the characters and how the games story is written. I hate playing mainstream RPGs like Final fantasy because they focus too much on the the cutscenes and graphics than the actual story. Their stories usually consist of the same thing.

I have a hard time respecting a game that is not on par regarding graphics, story, AND gameplay. If graphics are lacking, it feels like a lack of effort on the part of the programmers to me and sometimes gives a game a rushed feeling. I don't mean to say it needs to be better than everything out there or use all the newest lighting and shading technology, or anything, but it should be at least easy on the eyes. Graphics to me doesn't mean it has to look like 3D Benchmark 07 or something, it means that the characters and environments are all rendered or drawn in similar styles and that, in their creation, the overall look and atmosphere intended for the game is kept in mind. If gameplay, is lacking, I feel that the creators might as well have just made a movie. If the story is lacking, I can deal with that as long as the game remains fun. If a company can't get the gameplay to be fun, then the company needs to invest in some new writers. All in all... I think that a good game requires AT LEAST quality design in all 3 of these areas.

frankly i hink story is more important, because the story makes the game the graphics just help, if a game has a horrid story i won't play for long, but a mixture is best.
