A few words, Gears of War is not on Ps3... one reason not to buy. Another! 600 bucks... or 500 if ur lame. another reason, Wii = better. Wii is new, PS3 is a prettier PS2... and half PC.. stick it up ur donkey Sony. U guys suck.

How long as PS3 been out?PS3 is just a prettier PS2? :/Considering that PS2 didn't have Blu-ray, Wi-Fi, HDMI, HDD, support for 7 controllers, native bluetooth support, download capabilities, etc it's pretty are fetched to say that the PS3, the most powerful console to ever be released, is being claimed as just a prettier PS2.Wii = better. PS3 isn't a waste of money. Maybe it's not such a good idea to invest your money this weekend, but it certainly wouldn't be a waste. Your arguments are pretty weak, as the post above me has pointed out.

It will be a waste of money buying it when it just comes out, but the price should drop along with the games a little while after release.

I would buy it if I had more than enough money. It's the cheapest blu-ray disk player I've seen.I usually wait about a year or two before buying a system. For a healthy amount of games to choose from, and the dropped prices.

Its not a waste of money in the long run, but not many people have the spare $499-599 to drop for a gaming system. Then again, its not just a gaming system any longer, its almost like its own little Linux box once u acquire the right tools and software. Alas, just like with previous Sony systems, I will have to wait till this one drops in price as well before investing... or until a BD-writer comes out for a low price

My opinion on the ps3 is that it will suck, i have heard that they are gunna make oblivion for it, now don't get me wrong tis a brill game for the 360 and pc but i think it will suck on the ps3

Since PS3 currently has backwards compatibility issues, it is probably wise to wait until the new year or when they have fixed it to buy the console. It feels kind of wasteful to get a PS3 and not be able to play your old PS1 and PS2 games on it... Plus, by then there will be more games out for the PS3

all of you except sneaky sound system have very weak arguements, sure in the beginning it is a waste of money but there better things like saving up your money so you can buy it at a later time for a lot less money and not only that but get a few games to boot. its a bluray player that in itself gives it merit because theyre alot more expensive...like 2 k expensive from what ive seen and heard

Wii is not gonna do that welljuss like gamecube manit's juss not in competition wit 360 and ps3only thing cool about Wii is the controlbut ps3 and 360 might pick that up so then Wii is screwed

Actually, the Gamecube did do pretty well. >.>Well, I've tried out a PS3 (VIP Ticket, Digital Life in NYC.). The Sonic game (Was 70% finished at the time), The graphics were quite nice (Although, they didn't out-perform the 360), but the game was too slow moving for a Sonic game. Me and the other people there found the characters hard to control.It does have some great hardware and features though. You really can't deny that. Sony is making a huge risk with the Blue-Ray format, this just may end up like Beta vs. VHS. Beta was definetly superior, but VHS won. We may see a repeat, HD DVD > Blue Ray?You could also argue that, seeing as how long the PS2-PS3 release gap was so long, the PS3, which many would say is ahead of it's time, might have just as long a run as the PS2. Meaning, it's quite likely it will be a good buy. Unless.... the Blue-Ray format dies out. In my opinion, Sony should have waited for the PS4 (Or whatever's next) to use Blue-Ray. Chances are it would be cheaper to manufacture, which would make it an easy wipe if nothing better came along.Honestly, regardless of your thoughts on 360 vs. PS3, I think the Wii is worth the buy anyway. The Wii-mote will probably give a whole new aspect on games. For example, FPS's would be great on the Wii. Being able to lean or strech the exact amount you want, to get in those clean headshots. Brilliant. And too the above poster, at least do some research before making an extremely biased opinion. Better yet, don't make one at all Really, there are some great launch titles (The Legend Of Zleda:Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Madden NFL 2007, Wii Sports, Red Steel etc.).That's my two cents.

I think that the ps3 is not a wate off money.... but the wii is alot less than ps3........than again i 'm a sony fan and i really suck at using ather controlers than sony that are way better.

Waste? It's a gaming console, of course it's a waste.However, you may spend some enjoyable time playing games,or simply have some good memories with friends.I don't find 600$ to be that expensive.Common, it's only a release price.It WILL eventually drop.Save your money and wait for the better games to come out,and for the prices to drop.

Im not here to talk trash because i planned on getting a ps3 in a year or so, but from what im reading online seems sony dropped the ball? I heard a lot of problems with BC and HDTV support , something about if your tv is just 1080i and the games max res is 720p, you wont be able to play the game in anything other than 480p? Im kinda curious as to how people truely feel about the ps3... was it worth the 599 or was it all hype?
