Do you think that they will stop making PS2 games since the release of the PS3? I think they will because they stopped with the PS1 games. I just wonder? :D

Most likely not, alot of very good games still came out for ps1 after ps2 came out like grandia and dragon warrior VII. Plus with the price of Ps3 and the limited distribution, developers wont jump too fast to ps3.

Of course they'll stop making PS2 games, but only after the PS3 takes off. I'd say 2 years at the most but most of those games will be sports games. No major games like Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy will be released for the PS2 now. The best game that I know of thats coming out is probally God of War 2.

If you take a look at release dates, they'll stop making them for the US and Europe but will continue for Japan. So they won't stop making them as of yet, maybe next year they will stop.

I doubt it since the PS3 is hot off the market and nobdy can get one unless they wait in line or pay $2000 on Ebay. But if you give it some time maybe a PS5 will come out or something and it would be like the gameboy color thing, nobody makes them or sells them anymore.

By the time they stop making the games for PS2, the PS3 should have (hopefully) firmly established itself as the driving force for next-gen games and they'll be heaps of new and original titles for it. Just like it's predecessors. ;)

After the release of the ps3, I reckon they'll stop making ps2 a year later.

They didn't stop publishing PSX games when the PS2 came out. Final Fantasy Origins came out well into the life of the PS2. I imagine we may find a few titles like that later on down the road. However, with the PSP released, a company might opt for that instead.

I think developers will be making PS2 games for a while. I mean, back when the PS2 was launched, plenty of developers were still making PS1 games. So it'd only be logical that PS2 games will still be made after the PS3 launch.

They will stop some time or another. Since there is some good games coming our war this year. I'd say we still have a year or so.

not anytime soon, because the PS3 is so expensive that only the rich or the hard-core gamers will buy it...but once the technology goes up, and the prices go down, and most ppl switch out the PS2 for the 3, then yeah.

It will take years before production of PS2 games are stopped. Rather than be like Nintendo was with the Snes and 64, Sony still supports its old systems. If you remember even Madden 2005 came out on PS1. Ben Roethlisberger's (is that spelled right?) name wouldn't even fit on his jersey. :)

I think it will continue on through 2007 but I can't imagine much after that, at least quality wise.So far I'm anticipating The Red Star and potentially Raiden 3 by XS Games, although it's hard to say if either will ever see the light of day.
