I've read in one of the news that PS2 will not die anytime soon. Since PS3 engine is just yet under development. PS3's engine is quite powerful but still PS2 still carry some of elements. PS3 is a remodel of PS2 high quality engine. So maybe two more years or so some developers will still make PS2 games.
Will they stop making PS2 games?

they will, but not for a while. I believe we'll have new games for the ps2 until 2009... of course they will be just poor versions of the new generation games, nothing really new or exclusive.

yeah it will take some time for them to stop the production of ps2 games but yes they will stop eventualy.

I'd wager they will stop in about a year...its kinda sad really, the ps2 had a great run, and I don't want to pay 600$ for the ps3

there are a lot of people still playing buying ps2 games and enjoying it especially outside of amarica.so there is still a lot of money coming from ps2 games.it will take some time they will stop doing ps2 games

i doubt it because is much rentable keep producing this games for this console, i think this console have much more potencial not exoplored yet. but it is what i think you know.

offcourse they will stop because graphics of ps3 are much better thann of ps2 but it will take some time probably 1 or 2 years

of corse they will stop making ps2 games, that is one of the big ways companys encourage the switch to the new generation consoles. "oh, you want final fantasy 14? well, to bad its only on the ps3" that will get people to buy the ps3 and stop playing their ps2... of corse, when a title that big does hit the ps3, used ps2's will hit e-bay pretty fast so if you need to replace a broken one or something buy cheap around that time lol.

I think no because the ps3 is to expensive only the people that has a lot of money can buy games of ps3 and the creators of the games are going to create games of ps2 because they are going to get more money.

I say yes because PS3 is making its way into the hearts of gamers slowly but surely. Plus I heard that Blue Ray is going to make a comeback. A good example of why the delay isn't proof that it won't happen is the fact that Gamecube had games coming out for a while after the Wii came out even though the Wii was an instant hit.

Meh, it is one system that refuses to lay down and die....It will keep fighting, though it's coming to an end.....My guess is probably early 2009 for Sony to throw in the towel....

they wont just yet but i think tht when more people have ps3's and more ps3 games have been made then they will stop i know it may not be good news for some but its a fact
