they wont stop making ps2 Bcuz if they doo they'll lose money cuz not every1 can afford the ps3 n the price is really tooooooooooooooooo much!!

I hope they won't stop making it. I just got my ps2 last summer. and hopefully they make some of the (rpg)sequels for ps2.

It seems that way because game industries has been saying things like "with this last epic game on the PS2" blah blah... it feels like they want to make game for PS3, but since PS3 is so expensive already(AHEM eBay scammers) I don't think it would be wise to stop making PS2 games.

I don't think so because the PS3 is having some problems with it's launching (don't forget that it hasn't been released in Europe ) and there aren't any big games so far, and it is still very expensive.Since there are so many PS2 owners and the fact that there are still great games coming out (Okami, FF XII?, Guitar Hero 2) there will be new games coming out for the next 2 years, Sony is still making big money with the PS2 games sales, they wouldn't trow that income way.......

I dont know if theyl stop making them but there defently stopping making them as good like tony hawks project 8 on ps2 in comparison with thp8 on x360, everything thats different is worse on it and i think this trend will continue onto other games because game companies will be able to make more on next gen consoles.no, surly they'll keep manufacturing them. atleast untill they've got ps4 underway

I wouldn't call it obsolete just yet. There's still a few years left in the PS2.Yes eventually we will all have to bite the bullet and buy a new console.It's just the nature of the beast, but as for now I won't buy a PS3 until it's reasonably priced or they make a smaller one like the super skiny PS2. The games out for it aren't exactly blowing my bandana in the wind either.(Cause I don't have a skirt, fags.)

They -may- stop making them when it's a long time after the new console comes out.Otherwise probably not, because people with the old console will still want games to play, and they'll buy whatever comes out.

Do you think that they will stop making PS2 games since the release of the PS3? I think they will because they stopped with the PS1 games. I just wonder?

It will take about a couple of years for the PS2 games to stop being made. The PS3 will have to go down considerably on price before the PS2 games are not made any more.

They will not suddenly "stop" making p2s games because of the simple fact that the PS2 has made them so much money. Nintendo still hasn't stopped making games for their Gamboy Advance, nor do i believe them TO stop. The ps2 is still much cheaper now that its dropped to less than half of its original selling price at launch, it still has many more games than its older brother, and plays the games much better than its older brother ie the glitches and such for ps2 games. Its still much more stable and has a firmer fanbase than the ps3.So wrapping it up it, yes games for ps2 will still be made and still be great.

I remember reading some figures(gamespot article I think) that stated over the last five weeks more PS2 were sold than 360's, the difference in number wasn't so great (like 299,000-294,000). If the PS2 is competing so well against a next gen system then there is no reason for them to stop making games for it. The old xbox is pretty much dead and the reason for that is probably caused they stopped making games for it. Plus considering how much money that the PS3 has ended up losing them I highly doubt sony will stop producing anything that gets them a profit.

If they were to try something like that now, it would be the final nail in sony's coffin. If you give people the choice of either buying a $600 ps3 or no sony product at all the odds are people will just move on to 360 or wii. There will definately have to be a price drop before that scenario can even be considered a good idea.
