if thats the case, then its not a proto-type, its just a lower model (eg. Version 1 > Version 2)they do that with most consoles, incl. PS2, PSPcome on man, all launch systems are almost the finish product, but there still like prototypes. they will have some defects, but i say about next year sony will release the new shippment and problem will be fix.

ps2 ans ps games do work on ps3 since mine is 3 days old.. my friend who also has a ps3 says theey dont work

i doubt it's a prototype, but it is likely that they'll remodel it in the future to fix some of the things people complain about.

these are true because the sony company wanted money quickly and there deadline for the ps3 ended. so they launched it in the almost complete stage.

The boomerang has little if anything to do with the PS3 still being in some form of a beta stage. The PS3 has been getting patched I believe so it's getting closer to what the original designers had in mind for the release specs.If it were a prototype they would have kept the boomerang controller >_<

EVERY console has hiccups at launch. Look at the Wii and its online component - it's a mess! Microsoft is a no-brainer. The PS2 had all sorts of issues at launch.The PS3 is no exception.

troll. im not gonna fall for you.Alright my friends have talked about the PS3 that is currently out only being a prototype since people are having problems with it such as it not playing PS1 and 2 games even with the disc and that is basically having the same launch problems the 360 had i are these rumors true or are my friends messing with me?

ps3 is all fixed now and there working on a patch that allows you to play ps2 games on the ps3 40gb

to begin with my playstation3 had a problem dealing with ps1 and ps2 games, but now that ive upgraded teh software a few times it runs them perfectly.

all ps3's can play ps2 and ps1 games sony just hasnt released a emulation for it and if they do they will prob sell it on the PlayStation store for around $30

Your completely wrong. The 60gb had the emotion engine and the 80gb had an emulator. These were removed since the ps2 is still selling fairly well. Most likely when the ps2 stops selling sony will have an emulator released with a firmware update and ps2 games will be sold on the psn.all ps3's can play ps2 and ps1 games sony just hasnt released a emulation for it and if they do they will prob sell it on the PlayStation store for around $30
