They shot an arrow or threw a spear at eragon when Brom jumped to save eragon. He got hit and he dies soon after

The Raz'acs can't use magic. So, they must have hurled a weapon at Eragon & Brom jumped in the to save him killing himself in the process.

A strange light suddenly burned in Brom's eyes. He threw himself in front of eragon, his mouth open in a soundless snarl. The DAGGER struck him with a soft thump, and he landed heavily on his shoulder. His head lolled limply. Straight from the book.

Nasuada is the daughter of Ajihad,the leader of the Varden. Upon her father's death Nasuada became the leader. The dwarf prince Orik tells Eragon that no one knows who her mother is - Ajihad simply showed up one day with a baby in his arms and said that she was his daughter. Orik remarks that she is "an unusual girl" who, despite her young age, is skilled at manipulating her father's enemies and is a completely devoted daughter. Nasuada is as forceful, brave, and charismatic as her father Ajihad, and her quick thinking and wise decisions (such as moving to Surda, as well as allying with the Urgals) enables the Varden to survive the many troubles they face following the Tronjheim battle and the Burning Plains battle.

When eragon was at the blood oath celebration he was changed and became more elf-like smarter, stronger, and faster. The next day he went to his spar with vanir and using his newfound ability defeated vanir and broke his arm. Eragon offered to heal him but he refused saying he wanted to let it heal by itself as a memento that they once crossed blades.
