I'm stuck on final fantasy 8 with Adel. I don't have meltdown, so am i screwed? my levels are, squall 45, Zell 23, and Irvine 30. I didn't relize leveling up was so important, this is my first final fantasy ever. Thanks.

Actually, leveling is to be avoided in FF8 since monsters level up with your character. Therefore, it is better just to have low levels and good junctioned magic for the majority of the game. Adel is really easy, just don't attack Rinoa and concentrate your (physical) attacks on Adel. All you need is brute force and healing. If all else fails, cast aura and limit break her to death (with single target limits...).Edit: can't seem to spell things today....

Totally agree with avoiding high levels. Your GFs should tower over your characters' levels. I believe Adel is weak against Wind element so junction Tornado to your physical attacks will come in handy. Casting Regen on Rinoa can also help because Adel drains her HP. Limit breaks can work but its risky because some of them can hit Rinoa also.

In limit breaks, use zell (not finishing strikes) irvine shot( except shotgun shot) don't use squall limit break if you have adquired a better weapon because it' cand do the feated circle, or the other limit break (can't remember his name now) and that can kill rinoa, don't use Gf, because they attack all enemy target, i can't give any tip with Quistis or selphie limit breaks, because i never used them.Other than that, use the other tips, and you will not have problems with this boss

It doesn't matter if you haven't levelled, it's better that way, but have you got any characters that are nearer Squall's level? Because obviously you're gonna have to use him and since bosses have the average of your levels, the lowest levelled person would be less useful. Don't use GFs either.

...and if previously Seifer killed Odin, then try not to stall the battle too much, or else Gilgamesh may appear and use Masamune, and that's BYE BYE Rinoa.Actually it happened to me the first time I played the game :o

Just bash her with normal attacks like every other enemy in the game.Leveling up is unimportant, but good junction are vital. And stop playing this game when you're still in time, this is the worse jRPG created by squaresoft.

Well.. That's your opinion. Anyway, Adel. Leveling isn;t really that terrible.. Sure Adel's health will raise.. but she shouldn't really be that difficult by that stage. I reccomend refining any cards you have and/or using Carmod on enemies hopefully to get you some Meltdowns as they do help a lot. If you do still lose.. Start again?

Leveled or not... just have good juncitoned magic, and use physical attacks or single target spells/abilities. Adel is too easy...Just make sure you deal heavy damage to Adel more than she can drain from Rinoa and use Cure spells on Rinoa. If your junctioned well... you don't even have to worry about that happening. Just pray Gilgamesh/Odin doesn't come along.

He doesn't always ruin the battle. When I fought Adel, he used excalipoor (1 damage)...you must have some really bad luck.

When the battle start, keep hitting Adel. Eventually, he will stop moving :D Just kidding, if you have problem with your level, try JUNCTION! If you can manage to power-up your stats with these, even at Lv. 1 you can win! No magic stones? Tough luck. Also heal Rinoa every time Adel drains her. Rinoa has about 1000-1600 HP or bigger (can't remember, sorry)

Leveling is ALL IMPORTANT in any rpg, let alone a final fantasy which is infamous for overleveling. So ya I'd say you're screwed.

Were you listening? The monsters level up -with you-, sir. Overleveling is exactly what would screw someone in this game.As for how to beat Adel..Well, as the others said:Just use Limit Breaks and regular attacks, make sure your junctions have your characters as high in stats as is possible. Using Aura on your characters is a good tactic as well. I haven't played the game in years, so forgive me for my lack of knowledge..I'd recommend that if you can't beat it using this tactic, try www.gamefaqs.com for some other ideas.

PEOPLE PEOPLE!!!! There is an incredibly easy way to beat Adel, and any other boss for that matter, WITHOUT GOING THROUGH ALL THAT ****... hem hem... stuff...It's simple and easy:1. FIND THE BIG CACTUAR (Acquire the Ragnarok Airship and fly to a certain island, you'll see him hopping around.)2. BEAT THE BIG CACTUAR (just continually attack him, or use Aura with Renzokuken... GET IT RIGHT!!!)3. LEARN KAMIKAZE WITH CATUAR GF.4. USE IT ON ADEL!!!Result, 499998 damage or something like that... Kills yur character, but kills round about every monster in the game. Worked for me for the next few bosses after Adel and Adel... Try it and Good LuckLEVEL UP!!! IT WORKS!!!

its not really an advantage to have a high level coz the eneimes will be the same level as you and in a sense just as strong as you are. its actually a disadvantage sometimes because the higher the level of your enemy then he will be able to access new a deadlier attacks that werent available in its lower levelsbe care ful w/ limit breaks especially those that hit multiple targets coz theyll hit rinoa. refrain from using squall as well because he might use fated circle or blasting zone coz theyll hit rinoa. cast healing spells and maybe even regen on rinoa for this battle too

Mwahaha *sniff* that is exactly the same trouble I had when I first played this game.Would you believe I chose to restart from disk 1 all over again? Mwahaha.Anyway, leveling up won't hurt. By now, just refine whatever card you have, maybe some bullet for Irvine. And hopefully your Selphie already have her "The End" limit.

The easiest way is to have the KAMIKAZE ability and use it on Adel, it should kill her in just one blow.

Try single target limits like a quick ammo from irvine, or the armaggedon fist (forgot the two spamed moves used in the combo one of them being booya) from zell, meltdown from card modding or simply use physical attacks and heal as needed.

I agree with the others, the way I did was cast Aura on Irvine, then I used the Armour Piercing bullets with his limit break and the 2nd strongest gun (I can't remember the name of it for the life of me). I got the armour piercing bullets for the spider like monsters around the area where the Ragnarok first landed, or it was from Adamantoise shells.I also had the wind junction on to convert almost his entire attack to wind elemental, that and the AP bullets should completley pierce through Adel's defense, and since that AP bullet limit break doesn't attack multiple targets, you have no chance of harming Rinoa = D. Unlike if you use the Squall's, Selfies, Zell's, Quistis = P
