no the gaming industry is not running out of ideas, thats like saying the movie industry is running out of ideas, but in gaming more things are possible than in movies, in gaming you can take any person and make a story its virtually impossible to run out of ideas and capcom isnt the whole gaming industry

Hmm, if you think about it - originality doesn't really exist, I mean - every game can be stripped down to a core that is common in some other game. I think it's the nature of gaming that will help games to progress - eg: Virtual Gaming adding new dimensions to the same genre of games - ->

the last thing that companies are out of are ideas...technology is on the verge of a new era with hd, large storage harddrives and incredibly amazing gameplay.......sure, new games should be in the works more but upgrades of old ones are still amazing.....wait for the day when the newest psp has some sort of mini hd bluray player thingy with a terrabyte of hardrive space

I dont think so... ideas always come to everyone and besides game making havent stopped so this proves that gaming companies still got ideas

I think game companies are a long way from running out of ideas. More and more video games are sequels, clones, whatever, but that's inevitable because when one company comes up with a good new idea everybody is going to jump on it. Despite that, I was really impressed with some of the innovative titles that came out last generation. Pikmin, Viewtiful Joe, Guitar Hero, Kirby Canvas Curse, Wii Sports, and others have proven that there are always going to be new or different games and gameplay.

It's hard to say. The Gamecube was a piece of poo but the Wii is definitely innovative. The Xbox 360 is just expanding on what the Xbox was and the PS3 is employing new technology, but still isn't changing a whole lot. Some companies are just expanding on thier previous invention while other companies are making a comeback from a bad attempt.

If this isn't a fanboy statement, I don't know what is. Resistance might as well be called GoW: Resistance, because that's all it is, a bad attempt at a knockoff of Gears, with worse graphics.Anyway, they have to be running out of ideas. There are very few games that come out now that are truly unlike another in some way. It's really hard for a company to go out on a limb and try something new, even if they do have a new idea. They have to invest millions into their idea, and if nobody buys it, they're pretty much screwed.

Hmm, I do. I believe its just like the movie industry. Most movies that are premiering now are not as great as what they were back in the day simply due to the fact that most of the ideas have already been used. Which is why movies are very simiiar to past movies except just with a twist. I believe this is the same for the gaming industry.

in fact i dont know what means running out, but if is the problem of the title arent good enough to some people, well, other companies have being bought by the big ones, so , the creative people are still making great ideas become great games!

I doubt that there'll ever be a super new revolutionary game but just like books, there are gonna be variations of stories, new monsters and heros and of cuorse new possibilities with new hardware. I'm just waiting for them to implant a chip in us and make our lives into a PC game ;-).Sometimes I think it's better when they remake something old and good rather than trying to be inventive and creating a really bad new game. Just my two cents though.

Some companies have run out: most games are now fps or sports games..But I think it's just for a short amount of time, since now everyone is excited with next-gen graphics so the companies focus on them.In a year or two when next-gen systems will be current-gen, everyone will start looking for gameplay - that's when companies will focus on that too.

you guys have to consider that almost all fps games look the same with the exception of the futuristic titles like halo. in this category the gaming companies are running out of ideas

I feel that PSX and XBOX were fighting the console wars on the wrong level. Nintendo came in with the Wii and blew everyone away. This was just the Boost Nintendo needed to get away from the kiddy game look and actually become the gaming powerhouse it used to be. I say good for nintendo, but dont stop here. The key to new technology is inovation and you only float in this business if you keep with the times.
