so, to see, you can start off with 100. He loses 5%, or 5, in January. Now, he has 95.In Feburary, he loses 5% of 95, which is 4.75, leaving him with 90.25.Following this method, he has inMarch: 85.74April: 81.45May: 77.38June: 73.51and so on, till he gets to December: 54.04So, since that is 45.96 less than his starting point of 100, he lost a total of about 45.96%.(note: all numbers are approximated to two decimals.)

It loss will be of about 45% because if you look at the percentage after each month it is 95% of the last month, then at the end of the year it is (0.95)^12 wich is nearly 55%, so the loss is 45%.

A grocer loses 5% every month. What will be his lost% at the end of the year?I realize that you didn't mention what month it was, so, we do not know how many months will it be before the end of the year.Assuming that it is the end of the n'th month, where n is a round number (which might be false)The equation of the % amount lost at the end of the year = 100 x [1 - 0.95^(12-n)]Eg: if its the end of January, he loses 100 x [1 - 0.95^11] if its the beginning of January, he loses 100 x [ 1 - 0.95^12]And a whole lot more. We can't assume that it is the beginning of the year (although in reality, it is). Also, the statement gives an impression that it requires a full month before the grocer loses 5% (of what, i do not know, money perhaps?), so there is a difference if we calculate from the beginning or from the end of the month.

The formula was quite right but the answer was wrong. On above, we can see that the loss in the 1st month is 5 (100-95). On the last month, the amount we got is approx 54.04 and we need to find 5% loss of it for a year to complete. So the amont of loss we get in the end is 2.70 .... So the loss % = 2.70/5 X 100% = 54%And my answer is 54%

It is very simple. The answer is 5% of the grocer's total monthly income times (12 minus the number of months that have already passed in the year). The mathematical sentence is as follows:If x is the monthly income and y is the number of months that have already passed in the year:.05 * x (12 - y).This is because 5% of the total monthly income is lost, and to get the total lost by the end of the year, we multiply the 5% lost by the remaining number of months in the year.

Ok my go:We assume he starts at 100% and everyone month he loses that 5%.We will look at how much left after n number of months. Each month he has 95% of what he had the previous month. For month one - 100%Month Two - 95% = 100*0.95Month three - 90.25 = 100*0.95^2From this we can see that the formula for the percentage he has left is 100*0.95^(n-1)From this we can determine the amount he has lost by simply taking the number we get from 100.So the formula is 100 - [100*0.95^(n-1)]Note the 0<n<13 ( and n is an integer)

As you ask for difference between this quiz and the puzzles it is that it was very easy and meant for small children whereas this one takes a teenager or even an adult to solve some questions.Mushroom master has got the answer right. The Rules :- Answer in full sentences- Give a reason why you think so and explain it properly- Each question carries 1 mark untill I mention the marks.- I will change the question in 3 days if no one answers the questions correctly.- The first one to reach a score of 15 wins.Q.43 Use the digit "8" eight times with only "+" sign to get your answer as 1000?ScoreBoardHadel : 14.5 DeadRevenger : 14Sada : 8Sakayushi : 7.5penguinman : 6kwiksylver : 3Kv. : 2Chaniel : 2.5pegasus 5050 : 2.5daovs : 1Earendil : 1EnTr0pi@ : 1Rainy Day : 1cooooolllllllll : 1gba3000 : 0.5mshroommaster : 1JKY : 0.5cgfreak : 0.5Antarrr : 0.5FlamingDragon : 0.5Please let me know if there is any mistake in the post

Neither I said you can use "0". You have to use only "8" and "+" sign.

Well, I don't see "only" in there anywhere. I'm not even sure it's possible without using 0s.88+888+8+8+8 = 1000That's the only way I can think of to do it without using 0s. Yea, fine, it works, I'll admit it.EDIT: oh, 1000 posts... um, woo hoo... =\
