I think it's boring...It's annoying as well, but gives you an advantage if you're patient, which I'm not...But if someone sneaks on you, then you're dead...It takes skills to do it as well because you need to choose a spot where you will be well hidden and have good aim

Sniping is my favorite thing to do in a FPS... Actually, I play those only for sniping... And I only play twice a month or so, with a friend...

Well... Sniping is really frustrating, and I find it a bit obnoxious at times (especially if the person doing it is just camping in a really obscure location), so I won't do it often. But I figure it's only appropriate in an FPS. It's the logical counterpart to people who run and gun with obscene degrees of manual dexterity

I beleive if you can headshot someone, it shows that you have a hell of a lot of control. A lot of people just go in, all guns blazing. I prefer to wait in a good spot, and pick them off with headshots.

I say if you re spawn snipe you have little skill, but if you can lead a person then snipe them you got skill.

Sniping deffnately takes skill to be good at. If it didn't people wouldn't be complaining when they got sniped all the time, they would be out doing it themselves. I just think its important that game designers make it both hard to snipe, and more importantly make it not impossible to get at snipers and keep a multiplayer game flowing.

Snipers just take patience and timing. Their usefulness just depends on the game type you play. For example, in a Team Deathmatch where your kill/death ratio matters, snipers definitely have an advantage. On the other hand, in game modes where you have to assault, like CTF, King of the Hill, Headquarters, ect, they become less useful. The biggest thing that irritates me about snipers were their abuse when I played Counterstrike. People eventually just got too good with them ( or was a hacker).

i think that people think sniping is crappy nd unfair bcause they themselves cnt snipe. it takes alot of skill especially trying to snipe a moving target and in some games like cod 4 u actually have to rely on the wind to help u snipe so that just makes it harder for u.

Well, do you mean Sniping or Camping? Sitting there doing nothing till an oblivious player walks past half an hour later doesn't take skill. However, sneaking into an enemy base, then positioning yourself to pop heads DOES (48 Headshots in 10 minutes from the opposite side of the map while under heavy fire in UT99. Beat that

I think sniping is perfectly fine, but it does get a bit unfair if the person just stands in the same spot for ten minutes, and doesn't give anyone a chance to do anyything about it. I don't mind getting sniped, but I mind if you, say are playing with friends and you get into a spot no one else knows about and go on a spree, that's just unfair.

Sniping in FPSs takes a lot of skill. Do not believe what other people say. Sniping is a great tactic for winning matches in FPSs

I believe that the main beef that people have with sniping is that it's something that they themselves cannot avoid easily, since it's just a shot that can theoretically happen from anywhere. Also, I guess it requires "less skill" as compared to direct face to face gunfights. It removes most of the fear of retaliation, and it requires less dodging on the sniper's end. Basically, it's something that requires other talents, such as patience and focus, instead of the basic FPS skills, not that it's a bad thing.My problem with snipers is that EVERYONE thinks snipers are "cool", and most of the people who do come across as people who have little intelligence. They'll say things like "Oh my god, snipers are like the coolest, when they shoot their sniper rifles, and their bullets are like so powerful! You are noob if you don't know how to use snipers!", raving on and on about the greatness of snipers. Also, a team does not need to consist of more than 75% of snipers. Please people, there are other roles to play in a battle.

Sniping shows a great amount of skill. Hence it shows if they are good at it or bad at it wither if they can kill you or not before you kill them.

Sniping takes a huge amount of skill to do, I mean, I can't even do it as well. However, if you killed around 3 people by sniping, you would obviously stop camping at the spot you are on, and go somewhere else to camp.There are noobs who say sniping is unfair, and there are noobs who rave about that sniping is cool. DEAL WITH IT! Ignore the noobs and let them in their own world.

It can be cheap if they just camp in a place and wait for someone, but if not, then its ok. you have to give a fair shot for other players

Sniping is heck fun. If u plae Halo Combat Evolve to Halo 3 or L4D the sniping rox. i luv sniping but sadly i get sniped as well....but thats not the point, a good sniper is one that hides and silently kills, is that not skill to anyone?

sniping isn't a lack of skill. its actually harder to snipe since u have to be very precisealso for sniping if ur off by a little it would miss and u wasted a shot, that is not the case with others where u still do damage even if ur not precise

Sniping is great. Many complain about how unfair it is.. but as stated earlier it takes more skill. It only becomes annoying if your at a friends house, and some one is screen watching... other than that, it is a grat way to dispatch people.

I hate any conversation about shooters and whether or not a certain weapons requires skill.Take Halo for instance, the "noob combo" is a completely viable option. I've used it many times. Yet I'm always considered skilless for it.The way I see it, you're dead and I'm not... in this battle, I'm better than you. :gs:As for sniping. I'm decidedly average at it. It usually varies from game to game and a lot of it depends on what the other guys are doing to counter it. I will say sniping takes more skill than some other weapons in most games.
