Sniping has upsides and downsides. An upside would be that one shot can kill you. A downside would be that sniping takes skill, which I have enough to get by.

if you don't like them, I do, except not when i get sniped myself. However sniping takes a great deal of skill and you can be killed easily yourself so no it's a cheap way to kill

Everyone who plays FPS's worships the sniper rifle. I personally think it's stupid that everyone has to be a sniper. Sniping is fun, though, but it gets annoying to hear people blab on about it.

well i think it takes some level of skill, but it depends on how you use it. A clever person who stations themselves and doesn't die at all during the play time and racks up a fairly high score for a sniper must have some credible skill (what with the constant barraging, slowly losing ammo, running out of options constantly etc.) whereas a person who is mobile must have more credible skill, like no scoping and constantly on the move you think their sub mach gunners! the only time that a sniper becomes cheap is when they have a quick firing rifle and their killing people who are too crap to be on the move constantly when not underfire! however, by far the best snipers with premium skill are people who can headshot at a target running left to right or vice versa across their scope... flawlessly... not wasting any shots! i only know one guy who can do that and he is good.personally, i prefer ordinary rifles. long, powerful, get the job done. just as good as sniper rifles!

Personally I'd say it depends on the game. some games have lame sniper mechanics. I don't enjoy sniping though, esp. when the rifle is as accurate as a monkey flinging it's own faeces

sniping is an art in most of the games if you dont stand/sit nor your target.if one of those is moving its in my opinion an art to hit(i do sometimes ;P)if you stand its easy for sure or your target does and dont forget its different from game to game

Snipers are frustrating, but I do admit that they're very beneficial to a team. But I still prefer charging in with a shotgun. It's priceless to sneak into a sniper hotspot and blast them all in the back.

Sniping takes way more skill than just pointing and pulling an automatic weapon.Plus if your good youll get headshots and feel like you actually did something.

Sniping isn't easy: you'll need skill to snipe! it is way more difficult than just run to the enemy with an AK-47! The people who think sniping is easy should try it themselves. it is also the best way to get lot's of headshots!

hahaha "BOOM HEADSHOT!!!!!!!!" lololsniping in a game is probably one of the most difficult things to master. It is a lot of fun just to do so and it makes the game very exciting.Sniping is difficult because of moving and jumping around targets (man that kinda pisses me off!). But when you master it (which i haven't) it is such a breeze to get head shots. So sniping is a complicated matter (cuz im a combat master) to me but for others they probably think its easy

I don't think sniping shows a lack off skill, but this opinion is based on my friend's own, who play COD Online all the time. I myself don't really play too many games with sniping involved. I might play Timespliters occasionally, but that's it.

Sniping is a skill because its really hard to find someone first of all and being able to shoot them while they are moving. which is skill right there.

obviously sniping is a skill. it requires patience and precision something which most people don't have when playing a video game. If someone is willing to sit around and wait, why should they be knocked for it...

Sniping takes more skill in a fps than run and gunning, you have the aim, and half of the people on COD run across the room holding down the trigger, if you could aim that submachine gun than you would have the right to hate sniping.

I tried to snipe on alot of games but I always succeed because the enemy is moving and you just can't aim nicely at their head. Sniping takes alot of experience and predicition, you have to predict where the enemy will probably go to next and shoot there and if they land there, they will die..

I don't like sniping mainly because I don't know any sniper spots and I suck at leading shots.

I think people feel like sniping is overpowered in FPS games because they feel somewhat embarrassed after going on a rampage through a map killing everything that moves only to be taken out in 1 shot by a kid carefully postioning the crosshair with both of his hands on the mouse over the target. In short, I don't hate sniping because i suck at it. I hate sniping because other people think that they're the man with it

You can have a sniper... when you can sniper with a handgun. Sniping is easy... Killing a low skilled Sniper is easier.

Sometimes the difference between a good team and a great team is a sniper. I've seen pro totally desimate a team with their madd skills, popping one guy after the other, they cant even make it out of the zone their stuck in. I play a lot of COD4 and snipers are okay for the most part, but those really good players will just clean house with snipers, and from relatively close distance too, just quick scoping from one to the other. When you're able to do something like that, its quite demoralizing. Ive been on both sides of that.

Personally I love to snipe, I love the feeling you get when you perfectly lead a guy matching his speed as he runs for cover, hearing the ring of his helmet just before he gets behind something safe. But sniping can only be as good as who you're playing with. I find FPS games have a flow to their maps defined by the respawning and movement of your team. If you have a solid back and forth map where each team has an obvious 'side' then sniping can be a real help in both defending and advancing. However if teams are in disarray, lots of people in different places then people start respawning in odd locations. Now if you're sniping and you have to worry about someone spawning behind you, there's nothing you can do, so if your team is aimlessly running around sniping is really no longer an option as you can have the comfort of sitting still long enough to get a decent shot.

Sniping is great, especially if you are on a slow connection(I play call of duty 4 wirelessly). Sometimes my ping is at 100 which is decent in which case I run around with a G36c and tear it up but if my laptop is being slow I will snipe. I think using a bolt action rifle is skillful because the people using them are generally aiming to kill in one shot where as the semi auto snipers are more inclined to use a spray and pray style of play. I pride myself with my sniper kills and kit, I have it set up so I have 2 claymores, a r700 and a mini uzi. If someone comes near me I have an uzi and claymore guard, I can stay in one spot for half a round even if the spawns switch and I am near a bunch of enemies. I work mainly on my kill death ratio, instead of having an insane score Id rather go 20kills to 5deaths then 80 kills to 60 deaths.
