...ok guys, what do they call the potential audience in a given area for a radio station to broadcast to? They have the same thing for a TV station. This is used in a lot of other economics-related stuff. Think in those terms... because that's what I was meaning by this. =\

Hmm, but what keeps a radio station on the air? Likewise, what keeps.... well, you should be able to get it now. Demographic was closer than party, sorta, although a party does play an important role. There are a couple possible answers.

You're after voters? In that case, you're misusing the term market because it is not "market" which keeps them on the air, it is marketing, which has a totally different meaning. The corresponding noun would be advertisements.

Voters is close enough. I was thinking constituency or state, because the state is a senator's constituency. Here is the reasoning: a radio station stays on the air because of the ratings it has from its market. A senator stays in office because of the ratings and votes they have from their constituency.
