One of the best games today. Tetris, need I say more? Millions of remakes all over the world, found in various places from the classic Hand-held one game only console that it was originally made on, to Phone games, iPod (I found it in the Music Store!), Internet and many more. I can never get bored with this game. Im not that good at it unfortunatly, my highest being level 15 on the Gameboy classic. I think my cousin can get up to 25+. I saw him play level 20 and less than half the screen was filled. He then gave it to me and I failed in a few sconds. What are your thoughts on this Russian game?

It ages well, and won't be outdated ever, I believe. Many other puzzle games directly rip a lot of elements from it, so it would have to be the most influential of the electronic puzzle games. I can get past level 25 on that version easily... and you can sometimes get more points with combos when you deliberately let the screen fill up and leave the right spots open... it's more fun to try that ;P

Heh, the one where you leave a giant one rectangle whole and hope for the long piece to come? That gets annoying. Most people dont know this, but if you hold down "Down", and make the piece move downwards, you get points when it lands regardless if you get a line or not.

For some reason tetris is unrivaled in its field. There have been many other games that have tried to compete with tetris from Columns, Dr Mario, and more recently lumines (and that is ignoring all of the early direct tetris adaptations (3d tetris, and tetris with different shapes) but none of them have come close. I have always found even the most modest modifications to tetris (such as "special blocks" or other things) to only detract from the game. I strongly agree with Hadel in that it will never be outdated.

I don't know why but tetris never appealed to me at all. The only game similar to it I like is Kirby's Avalanche for SNES and thats not all that amazing either. So yea, overrated imo :D

Eh? What about when youre bored of all the mindless killing of creatures in far away worlds and just want to sit back and enjoy how the whole world of Tetris fits together. And if it doesnt fit together then you make it fit together...or you die and get so fustrated that you cant even continue killing mindlessly and you MUST beat this game you have found, this game called Tetris.Alternatively, you could play some mini-games on some other game (Personally, I love the Fishing in the Zelda series).

I love some of the new modes Nintendo made for Tetris DS. I just wish they hadn't included that retarded infinite spin.

Yeah, the infinite spin needs to be fixed.I was watching a friend who was trying to last as long as he could, was a bout to die and then did an infinite spin.So frustrating to watch.

Whats infinite spin?I heard on Tetris DS that you have to make certain shaps using the blocks? That would be very fun in stead of the classic Tetris

Yea its Russian. The guy who made it originally made it on one of those crappy-one-game-only handhelds. Then it moved to Nintendo (I think...?) and it exploded from there

There's a really well done BBC documentary about Tetris here: http://www.ideiafort....php?itemid=239It talks all about the legal maneuvers involved in getting it out of Russia - pretty interesting.

Love it. I'm currently looking for the arcade version that's a flat table. I saw it on TV one time, and ever since, i've wanted one.
