I think, guys that a Pokemon MMORPG is a great idea until you play it. The reason that Pokemon has been so successful is because of what it's done with it's gameplay. I mean all the way back from red version to Diamond, the gameplay is close to be the same thing we all know and love. But that's my opinion.

They need to make something equivalent to like, raiding in WoW. Like, where mutliple users can take on a single strong foe, like a unique pokemon of sorts. Or, defend the town from swarms of rogue pokemon (that are extra-powerful), etc;If it's just the same pokemon formula, even as an MMO, people will get tired of it.

I was discussing with my friends at school about how they could improve pokemon games, this topic suddenly popped up. I personally think it might be a good idea.

There's a few people making a fan-made Pokemon MMO, which is still in it's beta stages with practically nothing, so it isn't really worth playing right now. They were also given permission from Nintendo to do this, as long as they make no money off of it.

I think that a first-person 3D pokemon game could actually be quite interesting. Rather than using a turn-based system like they do in the games currently available, have it be based more on the style of the TV shows, with basic tackles and strikes being general attacks all pokemon have while special attacks are carried out upon command. A basic pokedex interface could be used for all commands, and indirect control of combat could add an almost RTS feel to battles- and if they had it so you couldn't tell the exact level of your pokemon, and gave each creature a distinct personality, well, the memory usage would be incredible, but the game would be worth it. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that if they made the level up system similar to that in Final Fantasy II (the ACTUAL FF II) but hidden, the development of your party could be incredible.

I don't think they should. The current formula for a good Pokemon game is amazing as is. To alter it and make it an MMO would me blasphemous.

I'd like to see a Pokemon RPG on a console, but with an action-based combat system. Combining that idea with MMO, actually, is a great idea. It would especially spice up PVP battles.

pokemon has been so overdone i dont think many companies would want to do it, but i think it'd be awsome if one did, if they did it rite. could be a massive failure though

It's only where it's headed too...Afterall, the whole concept of Pokemon is to be "the best trainer around"And what better way then to have REAL people to compete for this title?

Or atleast have more of the trainers have teams that require more than just one pokemon to beat. :D Sorry swimmer male, but water specific pokemon teams does not a winning team make.

That really is the biggest problem with the Pokemon games: if you have one pokemon of each element, the game's a breeze. I once tried playing the game using nothing but Grass type pokemon- Venusaur, Beedrill, Butterfree, Victreebell, Venomoth, Nidoqueen- made the game a heck of a lot more challenging.
