I plan on getting one in the future, but I could easily say no, I wouldn't even try. Burning out a system would not be fun.

why would you even just leave it on during the day? with the fast load up times it actaully takes my tv longer to turn on and change to the right channel.and besides, with it on all day, how would u know if u got a message or not? it only tells if its off

Technically, the Wii is on standby when the light is red/orange(this is the standard off-mode), so it is on 24/7 if the light is still on. Unless you mean you guys pull out the power cable. I found a page somewhere, and I will look for it, which says when you Wii is on standby, it is running a bare 4 kilowatts and when it is turn on it is running somewhere between 7 to 9 kilowatts. To compare this, PS3 and Xbox360 runs somewhere around 20 kilowatts I think, correct me if I am wrong.

all things use energy just being plugged in plus after a couple of weeks you would think it would break

Never. Its very hot temperature at the moment, so putting it in wiiconnect24 mode would definitely overheat it, as it did for a friend

as for social and living standards i would not leave it on 24/7 but the cos of running a wii is probably relativley low especiall compare to a ps3 or 360 so it probably wouldn't run the bill up.

It depends on what you mean by "off" if you turn it off by pressing the power button on the controller, it goes to standby and takes up little electricity, or if you hold it on the system, takes up little energy aswell, but pull out the plug is what I don't do, which is the only way that NO POWER goes to the system, otherwise just a little bit goes.

Still unsure if most people just hit the power button, which is not completely off, or if the people that say they shut it off pull the plug.Either way. I forgot to post which one I do. I leave it on stand-by when I am not using it.

I can't imagine it being horribly bad for the Wii to leave it on over night. It was designed to be left on. Besides, as several have stated, it uses little electricity while in standby. Personally, it depends on the night. Sometimes I turn it off completely by unplugging it and other times I just leave it go. I unplug it on nights I have trouble sleeping because I have like 20 LEDs in my room on at night.

I leave it on standby, with the orange light on. It's kind of warm (though no warmer than my router) but it can't be using more than 4 Watts.

Most of the time I leave it on just because it can tell me the weather There isn't really a reason to leave it on though because you can turn it off using the wiimote. So its even made more easy for lazy people.

you technically dont even shut it off unless you unplug it havent you noticed the red light that means its in standby like you can do with the ds and it uses next to no power and allows the wii to download updates if you have wireless internet
