Counter Strike is one of the old-school shooters in my opinion, but still alluring. The Halo games, compared to that of the XBOX gameplay, simply doesn't feel right. Ultimately, Quake or Doom suit my fancy, although I tried Fear on the PC and found that quite good.

I would have to say CS, because the engine is much more efficient and realistic than the UT engine. Halo has to be on a different scale because of the input mechanism. When you aim on a PC FPS all you have to do is move the mouse from one point to another; when you play an FPS on a gaming console you have to move the joystick, then release the joystick to neutral position when the target has been established. I find the joystick to be a bad mechanism due to the multi vector movement in the aiming process. Halo on PC was good, but they never made it well enough to compare it to the CS series.

However, CS is better in terms of realism as compared to Unreal Tournament ... duh... But i still prefer Unreal Tournament for the gameplay.

I'd say CS because you can compete with other friends who play that too.

I like CS and UT (2004 version, because my computer is too crappy to play UT3) equally (but chose CS because I'm better at that), when it comes to online shooters anyway.If we were talking about Single-Player FPSs, Half-Life all the way, my good man. Though PLEASE don't get me started on how much I dislike Halo. It pretty much killed the FPS genre outside of the Half-Life series because everything else is trying to be "the next Halo". I'll admit I played (and liked) Halo 1, but I didn't like 2 or 3 as much, because even THEY were trying to be "the next Halo", and failed miserably. I dunno what it is about Halo 1, but something about it makes it VERY enjoyable, even if you dislike Bungie for their later games.
