Oldest games are hard, newer age games are easier, but games nowadays are impossible.

The new games aren't as much role play. They get easier to play and it doesn't take long to find everything but sometimes u can get stuck

I was looking through my collection of NES games the other day and came across a few games that are so over the top hard that I have only beat them with codes or through the miracle that is Game Genie."8 Eyes"- this game is interesting because you can use the main character's eagle like a second character. Rather inovative for an 8 bit game."The Immortal" -this game is crazy hard, interesting settings and traps make this game cool. But the gotcha deaths really suck, watch for them."Solstice" - I know I mentioned it before, but really, try it and you'll know exactly what I mean when I said good luck with getting through the first stage. This game makes Battletoads seem like The Little Mermaid."Guardian Legend" -this game is like Galaga on crack! I've made it through the opening a few times but get anihalated in the second stage with all of the flying fish. Used a code in my old "Classified Information" magazine to beat this game."TMNT 2 the arcade game" Totaly awsome, almost totaly impossible without codes or the miraculous Game Genie. Leonardo Rules!"Pipe Dream" -here's one for you puzzle addicts. Try this one on for sizeKeep posting guys(and girls, I know you're out there.) The more obscure the games the better.

The older games are definatly harder than the newer ones. They had so many hard bosses, and ways to get stronger were hard too. These newer ones i can defeat within a few days If I played it 8 hours a day. I still have older ones, that i still havent fully defeated yet! Zelda, Mario, Mario 3, etc. And sadly McKids was hard and still is hard for me to defeat, eventhough its a McDonalds game...

I would have to go with old games, mostly becaus in the old games when you get a game ove you have to start the whole game all over again.

"So true. In new games, they'll hide some silly trinket or switch somewhere in a level so you have to use a guide to find it and call that difficulty. That isn't difficulty; it's tedium. "I totally agree. Thats why FFXII failed horribly. Admitedly they avoided fleshing out the game so they could include more in the form of "Difficult" sidequests. Unfortunately only 2 of the sidequests are actually difficult, and the rest are tedius go find the monster/item quests. It pisses me off where the RPG genre is going

They are incomparable. Its not about the age, it all depends on the game. From my experience the shorter the game the harder it is. for exampleLegend of Zelda: A link to the past- fairly old game, very long, but still somewhat easy to beatThen you have Castlevania V for SNES: Fairly short, but extremely hard. Now lets compare something like Castlevania V to a hard game these days, like Gears of WarBoth are hard, but Gears of War has more requirements that need fulfilling. Such as going into cover at certain times and then theres also more weapons, gadgets and stuff.Csastlevania V has a few weapon changes, a super attack, and you can jump. The game is simpler but it is also hard.I'm probably making no sense here, but thats my point. All games are different. You can't compare them by age and difficulty.

I think new games are way harder because they enhanced the graphics by a lot to make it 3D so the game could be hard to contral and play with

no cuz in the old games you sometimes had to figure out thing for your self, while in the new games they give you step by step directions of what to do

i would think that old games are harder cause u have to get through the whole level without being killed then you sometime have to fight the boss and don't forget the three lives you run on lol

The old N64 Zelda games rocked my brains out man, they were way trickier than any game i've ever played recently, they're way harder. without a doubt, i'm with you on this one man.

It actually depends on the game...Like Zelda... Ocarina of Time was one of the best i ever played... Wind Waker is too easy... but way too long...Sonic : Older ones are way tougher.Mario : Old ones, defenitly...

Nowadays, it's impossible to even "lose" most games. You can save everywhere and sometimes even continue forever. You only lose when you get bored. When I was a kid, such things were unheard of. If you died too many times, you started over from SCRATCH. Didn't matter if the game was an eight-hour long side-scroller...you had to fight your way through. Every extra life was a triumph, every victory a blessing. To beat a game on the NES or SNES was something rare that you could brag about to all of your friends. Now, almost anyone can beat any game they put enough time into.

I think newer games are hard in different ways. Most of the new games I play, it feels really easy then BAM! It's hard as hell! But most old games? Just plain hard. If you suck in the first four minutes, you're going to suck period. Give up, go home, or cheat if possible. New games lull you into a sense of false security. "Hey I'm really good at this game!" in level one, then in level six "WHY CAN'T I GET PAST THIS ONE BOSS?!?!?!" Plus, some new games are hard because you have to learn more controls. Old games, two buttons. "Jump" and "die". Heh. New games have "Jump" "die fast" "die slow" "die by fire" and so many possibilities. Heh.

Of course older games are harder. Hands down, no questions asked. They were tailored to the devout.Nowadays, companies make games much easier. It's all about graphics, nudity, blood, hidden secret magical items, etc. This is what you get when you tailor games to the mainstream market.

Older games are harder mostly because many of them require some kind of brain and observational ability to beat them.

Old games obviously. The movements are harder to control. However I like old games better because the have good gameplay and story line whereas alot the games today have poor storylines and poor gameplay because it seems like the game makers are more interested at the graphics than the gameplay like theif from xbox and spider man-which can be finished in a matter of hours.

i think new games are harder cause you dont know wat to do.

I digress, alot of the games have tutorials from the beginning to the end like fire emblem on game cube for instance. Most of the games actually spend one chapter or one stage specifically for tutorials whereas the old games, there are no instructions to begin with. But I do see your point regarding other games.

A lot of older games required your reflexes to be faster than lightning if you expected to get through them. Especially the NES, there are more difficult games on that system than all others combined if you ask me.

For the most part, old games. They couldn't do cool moves or special attacks, etc, so they made it hard. Now you have all sorts of different ways to make fighting games easier. For example, look at the old megaman games and then look at megaman x. The levels, bosses, etc. didn't change much in difficulty, but you could move easier and got better weapons than in the old games. The result is an almost too easy game. There are games that prove some difficulty, but game designers don't want people to get frustrated with their games, so they make them simpler. XD
