old games were harder. with a lot of games now you can simply level up more anytime things get tough so you can always stay on top. that's why it's cool to see some games now limit how much you can level at any one time.

obviously not....Just try double dragon and compare it with games like Backyard Pro wrestling o Def Jam, it will never be as tough as the first one, also they are more fun, lately all games are equal but with diferent characters, gaming is not what it used to be...

Personaly I think older games are harder. Newer games don't feel as hard as say the way Gargoyle Quest II or Mega Man III wereThe new Final Fantasy games are pretty hard but not when compared to Final Fantasy two or three for SNESNow of course there are some realy easy NES and SNES games like Duck Tales and Super Mario World. But all in all NES had way harder games than most new games for X-Box and PS2The hardest game I've ever played was the NES game Solstice if you can make out of the first level I tip my hat to you.

Yes, I agree with you. Older games are harder than newer games because I know Super Mario 64 is harder than Naruto Ninja Council 3.

You really can't compare new games to old games. Think about Ninja Gaiden for the XBox...that is a hard game, but if think of some of the older games, they were equally tough but in a different way. Hard to say when you're on an entirely different playing field.

new game feels more straight forward.. alot of "you know where to go" or process guided info in game...some old rpg game are like... u have to go search every single pixel in the whole town to find hidden items...or trigger around afew brain-storming quest without any hint though u know there is something wrong with "these items"so i think old games are harder

Speaking of ninja gaiden, If you think that the first 3 parts of NG were almost imposible to pass (You have to be REALLY good to pass them), the new one doens`t seem too hard.So my vote goes to the oldies are harder...

I think there are two reasons for the decline in difficulty. Video games have become more mainstream with more people who don't want to work for hours to complete a single stage, such as younger children. Also back during the coin-op age, they made as hard as possible so you would keep popping more money in.

I think we ASSUME that older games were harder because of the plain fact that when we were younger, we couldnt comprehnd such games. Some games have exceptions, such as the LoZ games. But i think theyre about the same.

I think that older games are way harder than today's games.oday's games give you too many chances to continue.

I agree with the OP. Older games were harder; it was usually a one-hit death back then.

i think older games are harder, because walkthroughs make the newer ones so easy, and the older walkthroughs for NES, SNES, and some Genesis stuff leaves out the secrets which makes the games that much better so my vote for old games

Old games are way harder i remember when i played for hours and couldn't get past a level or 2 :o new games have better image quality so they don't focus on making them hard anymore

I only play hard games, and I don't play much games nowadays..... Back then when I was young, everything was tough because I was kid. Now, tougher ones on the NES ain't that much of a challenge.

not necessarily, all the different games over the years have they're own difficulty level. thats why almost anyone can find a game that suits their liking, and/or ability

i don't think you can classify the difficulty of a game by when it came out. Some games are just harder than others plain and simple.
