I think the older games, for the most part, are harder. Part of this is because of the lack of ability to save in old games and having to start ALL over again if you run out of lives.

I think that newer games are much more easy then older ones. Newer games are much more forgiving, with more continues, saves and lives. When I was younger playing the NES I couldn't even complete a game.

id say that old games are far harder than newer ones. i think the first zelda was way harder than any of the new ones and way more confusing. the older ones didn't tell you where you had to go very well haha. maybe thats part of it. i think newer marios are way easier as well. Plus, old mortal kombats are the best.

Old games seem to be harder, it most likely because of the graphics.

New games are definitely not harder. Sometimes more complex, but with the number of guides and walkthroughs the internet conviniently provides you have no chance of getting struct for too long. Not to mention target of most modern games are casual gamers as well (well, they're the ones with money, not young hardcore players).

Earthbound. Nuff said. If you didnt have a gameshark you'd be screaming at that game for years. But when it comes down to it i love the older RPGs. Dragon Warrior, LoZ (screw twilight princess), and you cant forget the puzzle games for the NES, Like the Adventures Of Lolo, if youve never heard of that game, get and emulator and DL it, you will be screaming at your screen in no time.

Kids these days are less smarter then back in old school times... They make everything to easy now! I used to love "coolspot" for megadrive, my brother cant even get half done!

Most definitely not. There were harder (Megaman) games back then and easier (Earthbound) games. The same can be said about this generation. Some games are ridiculously easy (Magical Starsign), while some are hard (Demon Souls, Shin Megami Tensei). It intrigues me to hear others spouting nonsense such as, "oh old games were harder lololol." The game was probably harder for you back then because of you were younger when you played the game, so when you're older, it's going to be noticeably easier.

There are easy games and hard games for every generation of console, all dependent on the point of view of the person playing them. I don't do well at racing games, but I'd find RPGs far easier than my brother would. However I do find when I pick up some of the older games I used to do well on that I struggle a lot more than I remember. Sidescrolling Megaman games in particular are a major source of frustration as it seems the games are lot more unforgiving for making mistakes, while new games tend to impose similar challenges but allow you as many chances to beat them as you like without having to play from scratch all over again.

older games were and still are harder because a lot of them didn't do ANYTHING to tell you how to play the game. they expected you to learn how to play the game through its mechanics and controls. nowadays though, close to every single game gives you x amount of time worth of "tutorials" and guides, and helpful flyups and pointers and (self-censored to be polite) annoying stuff XP granted, some games, a small info piece is useful for games with new powers and stuff, but these, and any cutscenes, should be skipable to not slow the game down if the player desires.summing it up, there are far too many instances now of "yeah, i get it" moments XP

Why?!I still go back and play my old games all the time. No! I think they try to hard making new games nowadays. With better graphics and more features. It just doesn't seem to give me the same satisfaction now. Not as much as the older games i frequently play from time to time.

Old games are definitely harder. I get the feeling developers back in the day artificially cranked up difficulty to give kids a hard time.
