To be honest i never had any real trouble with ne of the gyms, that might be because i'm a training freak but if i had to say anything then it would definitely be the psychic ones or anyone with a pokemon with earthquake, that move tears people up and theres no one with levitate that has the ability to get through a big pokemon like that.

Most of the gyms I've played through were surprisingly easy if you trained your Pokemon right (or captured the right Pokemon for the job). Some of the hardest I've ever had to fight were...Brock - Fighting him in Yellow was a huge pain because I was still naive and didn't know that Fighting moves would kill his Pokemon. Luckily you can get Mankey, Butterfree, and both Nidorans with Double Kick early in the game.Whitney - She was pretty much the only gym leader that actually made me cry. Her Clefairy was a pushover, but the Miltank just keeps spamming Rollouts like there's no tomorrow. I was so frustrated with fighting her, that I nearly broke my Game Boy Color numerous times from slamming it onto the floor. I was actually really happy to beat her and couldn't care less about her crying...As for Psychics, I used a Level 24 Lapras against Sabrina's Pokemon and their attacks literally did nothing to it.That's actually pretty much it. Most other gym leaders could be easily beaten with the right teams and a strong Pokemon.

I vote for Liza and Tate. Its hard if your starter is Torchic and worse in Emerald since Solrock can use psychic, solarbeam and flamethrower that beats all starters.

When I first played emerald it was mossdeep city. I only trained up 2 pokemon which were super unaffective against both of tate and lizas combinations. Second would have to be Dewford Town if u dont have the right starter pokemon.

Haha, this exactly. When you go to fight Brock you pretty much HAVE to catch a Caterpie or Metapod and raise it into a Butterfree so it can learn confusion. As for Misty, if I remember correctly, you can catch an Oddish in the patch of grass on the way to see Bill, raise it into a Gloom to get some nice Grass type moves to take Misty out.

^ If you're playing Red or Yellow, you can capture a Mankey outside of Viridian City (very rare though) and it knows Low Kick so you can take out both Geodude and Onix with ease. For Blue and Yellow, you can capture Caterpie in the forest and train it to Butterfree.R/B/Y all have Nidoran Males and Females which will learn Double Kick around (I believe) levels 11-15 if you have the patience to train them that far.

My first pokemon game; trying to beat Jasmine's gym with just my level 45 Pidgeot. (all my other pokemon were seriously under-leveled, since I had focused all my efforts on Pidgeot...noob that I was...) <3 I must've lost about 5 times. But then I got the move 'Return' and all was well!

Everyone is saying Psy-Gyms...I would have to say Witney, not that she was "THE HARDEST!" but she was one of the Hardest and most Annoying.

Any of the later gyms in the series (the ones that you have to go through right before the Elite Four). The gym's Pokemon themselves weren't necessarily hard, it was the puzzles and mazes you have to go through before you have to fight the Pokemon. Those were tough in the later gyms. It took me a while to figure out the Sootopolis Gym from Hoenn and the electric one from the Sinnoh region.

Personally, I think morty's gym in Gold/Silver/Crystal was the hardest. Not because it was a challenging fight but the puzzle was so hard to get past it's like trying to find waldo with waldo wearing a white t-shirt against an entire background of white. In the end i figured that trying to do other side events was easier than trying the gym. Thank goodness for the internet and people with enough time to figure the puzzle out.

it all really depends on what pokemon you take with you, bu id probably say viridian city in pkmn yellow. when i was a little kid, i always sent pikachu out, cuz, u no i was stupid, and then the the guy would use earthquake and d pikachu would die and i wouldnt no why, cuz, u no, i was stupid. they made it easier in firered/leafgreen tho which kinda defeated the purpose of it being the last gym in the gamealso the psycho one in s/r/e with the annoying twins

Brawly in Ruby, since I can't get Sableye and usually don't bother to train up Ralts.

:o In crystal version Whitneys milktank was very difficult unless you completely out leveled her.

I just used Ghastly/Haunter's Curse.Sure, she could use potions and Milk Drink, but this status stays for the whole battle.I think the hardest Gym was the 8th in G/S.I could make my way through the Dragonairs, but Clair always had her uber-leveled Kingdra that would use Double Team all the time. And when you did hit it,it would use Rest. :o
