At the moment ATI seem to be making some really good cards at reasonable prices.. Plus with rumours that AMD are to buy ATI, then maybe ATI is the way to go..

Oye, how should i start... Nvidia is a really good gaming card though I have had problems with one before. Ati is the same but the graphics are good too... so it really does not depend on the brand its the model you are going to get(and don't get Azus, it sucks)

I owned owned an ati 1950 and the amount of drivers i was constantly forced to purchase oushed me into downgrading to a nvidia 7900 which i have havn't had a single problem with upto now, and on top of this seems to be performing just as good. Nvidia always seemed more reliable going way back to my geforce two.

I would get Nvidia if you're aiming for a next generation DirectX 10, because Nvidia costs just as much/cheaper and has better performance in DX10.

Ah I'm a big nvidia fan, I've used their products almost all the time and I've been satisfied. Currently I'm running a bios-hacked GeForce 6800 ultra (yaaay extra pipelines) but in my new comp I think I'll be SLIing two 512 7600 GTs. (only $75 a card!) the laptop I'm typing this post on however contains an ATI card, but I'm actually happy with it (it's pretty powerful seeing as it's meant for 3d modeling applications).

I have read from somewhere that laptop manufacturers are currently designing models that would allow users to change the video card of the lappy. Sounds cool.

Thats a technology that was announced but never materialized. Nvidia spearheaded it but it never took off because laptops are a market where prebuilt is king.

well okay i like nVidia but for reasons, like they are really good first of all on their productsand so far what, their nvidia 8800 series is like owning everyone, but also if you check carefully, most of the professional gamers and gaming systems ininternet cafes, a LARGE PERCENT of them use nVidia.

i've answered a question similar to this already ut ill answer again for those who want to learn and stuffwell okay i like nVidia but for reasons, like they are really good first of all on their productsand so far what, their nvidia 8800 series is like owning everyone, but also if you check carefully, most of the professional gamers and gaming systems ininternet cafes, a LARGE PERCENT of them use nVidia.ALSO nVidia is also better for overlocking, which is something most people don't know,it's true that to a certain point ATI in default is pretty good especially when you crossfire it, but at the same timecrossfire rivals alot with dual channel graphic cards so yeah depends on you, whether your talking about overall or stock power

Thats a new one"Dual Channel Graphic cards"-care to elaborate on that?

ALSO nVidia is also better for overlocking, which is something most people don't know

For the past generation and present generation of cards,ATI have had it better for overclockinggeforce 8800 cards have limited OC headroom compared to the ATI HD 2900 xt
