For me it was Zelda: A Link to the Past. Still one of my favorite Zelda games from the bunch too. Its strange though as I only started considering myself a Zelda fan when I got Wind Waker.. I did buy all the other Zelda games between Link to the Past and Wind Waker (Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time) but yeah never considered myself as a fan.

For me it was Link to the past (though ironically the game doesn't have much to do with cross-temporal happenings"), and later on I played through ocarina of time, both fantastic games.

ocarina of time was the first one for me. I'm addicted to Zelda now. Twilight Princess is the only reason why I bought the Wii

For me it was the very first part, I believe the title was just "The Legend of Zelda" (my aunt had a NES and I used to play every time was was at her place). The first Zelda game I owned was Link's awakening. I think I've played all Zelda parts up to Wind Waker by now...

A Link to the Past, for SNES. I still play it and Ocarina of Time in emulators. The Zelda franchise is awesome! >.< RPG, adventure, action, puzzle, mini-games, all in only one game. :)

The very first Legend of Zelda for the NES. I went on to play Link's Adventure (which I didn't really care for), and Link's Awakening and A Link to the Past (which I did very much enjoy. Later on I got to play Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. I think Majora's Mask is my all-time favorite Zelda game.

I played the original when I was 8 or 9, and got frustrated 'cause I couldn't find one of the levels. Then I picked up Link's Awakening and adored it.

I was also introduced by "A Link to the Past" the game was extremly long with a bunch of side quests and I loved it. The art was really clean on the SNES and the story was unique.

It was Link to the Past, my favorite Zelda game in existence. I remember being overjoyed when I beat the first boss in the sand temple. I seem to prefer 2D Zelda games far more, my mind can't seem to wrap itself around the 3D ones. I suck at them horrible and just don't enjoy them, though I wish I could. Maybe Twilight Princess will be fun.

You know, I might have had Zelda for the NES, but I doubt it. I think I first had Oracle of Ages and then stopped playing and then started again. Link to the Past is my favorite, though.
