no matter what type of person you are,no matter what type of game you're into if you have a Wii you cannot go past Red Steel it's a must have game. Red Steel is a samarai game where you use your Wiimote as a sword and venture around finding more enemies to kill. It also has guns in it (of course) and you can use the nunchuck control as a grenade. When you have an enemy weakened and at your mercy, you can choose to either kill him or spare his life.

Red Steel was pretty horrible from what I played actually. And @the third party developer comment: Yeah that was the problem with the gamecube, but now it just looks like developers are getting lazy with the Wii, like I said in the rayman example.

Have you played metal slug anthologies? Thats a really good collection of games that a hardcore gamer should like. You could also just play around on vc until the good titles drop. Castlevania 4 ftw.

Oh god yeah, metal slug is always awesome. And the Virtual Console idea is pretty sweet, probably my favorite thing about the system.

Hardcore gamers are generally into games a few thousand times more deep than Warioware. I never said hardcore means playing only RPGs, you're obviously seeing what I say and picking what you expect me to say out of it. Let us take Spore for instance. Hardcore game? Yes. RPG? No.

Well, I don't see why a game has to be "deep" in order to be enjoyable. Yes, getting into a game (like Spore, as you mentioned) can be very fun. And it's certainly not something a non-gamer could pick up and really be in to. But "hardcore" gamers can also enjoy a frantic and fun game such as Warioware. If your definition of a hardcore gamer is someone that likes games with depth, than yes, I believe the Wii will be losing hardcore gamers. As someone said earlier, Nintendo is definitely pushing the Wii to be a party, "everyone in on it" platform. So in that sense, they certainly aren't aiming for the more hardcore crowd.

Red Steel was pretty horrible from what I played actually.

How far did you get in the game? It's kinda boring until you get to where you unlock moves and what have you. The absolute worst part about it is turning around. That really sucks. Overall though, it's not that bad of a game. A lot of the potential is certainly lost, though.

Not too far at all, I only played through 2 levels at my friend's house. It's not that it was terrible, just....average, I guess. Definitely not a top quality game like a lot of people were hyping it to be. It was more like your usual FPS game, it felt dated.

Nintendo has always aimed it's games at everyone, hardcore gamers included. So Nintendo's consoles will probably always have games for everyone.

Yeah the whole Rayman thing disappointed me a bit, Rayman 2 is still one of the top platforming titles ever made.

Do you think so? I guess not.

I'm with ya but Nintendo is clearly going for volume first and substance second. They don't do the quality checks they once did on every game they put their name on. I'm not sure that their interested in the hardcore audience as much anymore. They know that most hardcore gamers will get their system for the Metroid, Mario and Zelda games out there. And if they can make more $ appealling to people that never would have touched a gaming platform, they're gonna do it. Who would have predicted e-bay Wiis at double retail price more than a year after the launch date?

I mean seriously, I look at the Wii and I really only see one game out that appeals to us hardcore gamers out there, and its Zelda. Are there any good adventure games or RPGs coming out for the system at any time? The Wii is very much a casual gamer's system from what I've seen, which is why I've been so turned off as not to buy the thing thus far. Nintendo may have grabbed the mainstream audience with the system, but I doubt there will be anything truly engaging for those wanting more from a system than the mainstream audience wants. Anyone with me on this?

well i work at target and EVERYone watns a wii. but i get what ur saying and i have the twilight princess for gamecube not wii. and i think the only good ones for wii are metroid prime 3 and the super smash bros brawl. i dont own a wii but i guess i got o buy it for just those 2 games

No it isn't losing hardcore gamers but also gaining more players. Metroid Prime 3, Zelda TP, Mario Galaxy, and Resident Evil 4 are good enough to keep hardcore gamers interested.

i think they are def. losing some hardcore gamers but who cares because IMO there are way more casual gamers (people who work, go to school, have a life ect) and the wii is the perfect console for them and Nintendo is making a fortune from them.

I think they're definitely losing them. With only a few games made for hardcore gamers out there coming out each year, they might consider switching to a 360 or PS3. They have what games so far for them? Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Zelda......and I think a few more, I don't pay attention that much lol. anyway, there's a company creating like 20 games for the Wii that have all been getting horrid reviews, I forget the name of the company but if I catch wind of it again I'll post a link to there page.
