I would say FF3 is the first time you can even make out what a character looks like. Locke is supposed to be fairly manly. Then game by game it gets a little more ambiguous. Look at Tidus in FFX. If they changed his clothes and voice I might not be able to tell...

I guess look at anime and it's influence on U.S. culture. Now, look at all the Japan bands that dress like women. Yeah, not really a sound logic, though it works until I feel like coming back here to dissect things.

The FF heroes are definitely looking more and more like girls, and I don't like it. For example, if you didn't know Tidus from FFX was a guy, you would think he was a girl in the cutscenes. Vaan from FFXII also looks like a girl.

It has something to do with a combination of anime influence on video games industry (look at naruto, pokemon, ff, anything really) and the culture of Japan. It kind of disappoints me actually. I'm looking forward to a FF where the protagonist is some gigantic bad-a like Barret or Amarant. That's why I liked FF 8 better than the others. Well, Squall does look like a girl, but he isn't a wuss like Titus.Anyways. Yeah.

Of course they are. They been borederline drag queens ever since cloud. Hell, even Sabin and Edgar were camp as hell. The only non-female male lead character in an FF game since then was Zidane, and that was only because he was always tryin to get some.

Yeah Zidane! lol. Anyway, it is kind of true how they're looking like girls, but if you think about it, they also look more realistic. I mean, how many huge bodybuilder people do you see around? The small frame is more realistic. I don't mind it for the most part, but Vaan. omg. He bugs me. Badly.

Yeah but on the other hand how many depressed, sexually repressed, confusingly cross-dressed emo kids have spiky blonde hair? Or fur collars? And since when has FF been about being realistic?

Yes, I have also noticed this serious trend in the Final Fantasy world. One possible explanation is that the male Final Fantasy heroes have contracted Feminarimavirus, also known as b shounen. The symptoms include a gradual change in appearance from masculine to feminine and increasing amounts of fangirlish presences around the victim. Feminarimavirus also causes a drastic increase in the number of yaoi doujinshi the subjects are in, and in the worst cases, increases in cross-dressing or gender-bender doujinshi. The only known cure is taking male hormones regularly for XII weeks, or as long as it takes to get through all of the Final Fantasy games (including spin-offs), in chronological order. Counseling is also highly recommended for those who have suffered any psychological trauma at the hands of this terrible, highly contagious virus. It is also suggested that those who may be at higher risk of contracting Feminarimavirus (those who are already somewhat effeminate in manner, those who posess long, silky hair, etc) avoid areas that may bring them into contact with fangirls, fangirls with beauty products and/or women's clothing, or yaoi doujinshi artists.

Vaan was the only one in ff12 that looked like a girl so i think there should have been an option that was between yes and no.

Hmm... I don't final fantasy is the only rpg that it's main character is a bishie(guy who got the looks of a girl). Anyway as long as the character isn't "really" gay, that's perfectly alright.

It's only becoming more that way since women have more unrestricted wardrobes and actions than males do in western culture. It's a sign that times are changing.

Hehe, thanks. As far as I know, that was of my own invention. And wow, you have long hair, man. With me, its like my hair is eternally trapped in some strange dimension where you can't grow your hair past your shoulders or something. *^* But yeah, it's kind of weird when practically 99% of the male hero population seems to be, well... female. But I think some characters are safe from being bishified, like Cid and Barret. Please, let it stay that way.

Haha, the secret is to only get your trims every 6 months. your hair gets all the new growth cut straight off if you do it more often. Other than that just use a good conditioner, and only wash your hair every OTHER day. if you wash it every day then you end up stripping your hair of all the natural oils and stuff, so your hair gets dry.

I get my hair trimmed about... once every 6 months, or maybe four. But only my bangs, really. And what's a good conditioner to use? Like, what brand? And, on the topic of feminine FF heroes, because of that one incident, there are a lot of crossdressing Cloud or female!Cloud doujins. I have a folder full of images, too. And there's this female!Vincent wearing lingerie, too. What, exactly, is the thought process of these Japanese doujinshi artists?!?!

Trust me I dont want to know. Some of those doujin makers have SCARY fetishes.Generally I just use pantene shampoo then conditioner. Other things to watch out for are the cold, and when you brush your hair its sometimes useful to do it still wet with a good brush.
