Its ancient but in 1995 there was a game called Bioforge. First time I ever saw the player character tear off somebody's arm and then beat them to death with it. Either that or World of Warcraft, because seriously, that destroys people's real lives. Its like crack, and that's as brutal as it gets.

Um, does anyone think Gears of War is brutal? I can't remember that alien one or I'd say that.

I'de second the motion for Die by the sword and Blade of darkness. You get to chop monsters down to pieces. You might want to check out McGee's Alice. its a twisted version of the fairy tale and deals with schitzoprenia as the main plot. Really wicked!!!

Manhunt or Resident Evil 4. Both are pretty graphic, and not for kids; lots of blood and gore are shown. To illustrate: in Manhunt, you can cut off your enemies' heads and throw them around to catch the attention of other enemies. In RE4, you can use a shotgun to blow off a "zombie's" head, making it explode.

Well the most recent brutal game I've heard about is Manhunt 2. It was interesting when I read about the scene involving the pliers ... No wonder why every country did not release the AO version of it. I wish they could have though, so I would be able to enjoy the full extent of the game.I don't think being able to tear limbs apart, shooting out the guts of a person, or being able to shoot/blow/tear a person's/thing's head off is disgusting, nor brutal (it is still violent). In fact, I think it's fun (of course, in reality that would be absolutely terrifying). I always smile whenever I get the chance to do it. However, that Manhunt scene (with the pliers) is an exception - I've never come across the idea before.

Okay, lets get the obvious ones out of the way - Any of the GTA games, the mortal kombat games and resident evil games.I think we can all agree that those are all quite brutal indeed. But, the real brutal games are quite obscure. Lets start with Killer 7. Perhaps the bloodiest game I have played. Then there's NARC where you can literally decapitate enemies with your boot. There is also allot of explicit drug use in that game that adds to the brutality level of it all.Last but not least, I have to mention God of War. If I had to describe to you all the ways in which this game is brutal, I would be here typing at my pc all night...

Now this isn't so much the brutality of the game, but Through the Fire and the Flames on Expert on GHIII. That is what I call brutal.
