It was when it first came out on the gameboy colour, but it is nothing compared to Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy these days.

i agree with him/her because i've played all the gba pokemon games except the pinball series i hate those.Pokemon is the most famous? I mean, I like the Graphics and the replayability of it, but basically it keeps coming back with an almost identical plot: You get the pokemon from the professor, your rival battles you, you get the pokedex and pokeballs, you beat the gym leaders, you thrash the evil team, save the World, defeat the elite four, depose the champion and voila, you are suddenly the most famous trainer.:yawn:Final Fantasy 7 is like, SO much better.

I don't really think so. Most "famous" games suck, (i.e. Final Fantasy) and Pokemon is no exception. It used to be awesome with Blue and Red version, but now, well, it just sucks now. I guess it's famous, but I think FF has been gaining ground the past couple of years.

i would say Final fantasy tops pokemon in rpg, though pokemon is more attractive to lil kids due to its series

I agree with ya.Play with Pokemon to train to level up, combine moves, team, challenge with your skills, and fill out Pokedex by trade someone's Pokemon.Furthermore, FF series are great storyline and great music. They give me a dramatic feeling.FF is famous.

I dunno... I've never played FF, so...I think Pokemon is good the first time around, but after that, I like GameSharking it. I don't cheat games until I've beaten them fair of course...But Pokemon and FF are both pretty big... I dunno...

You can't really put two completely different styles of RPG together. Pokémon is famous, but so is FF. Final Fantasy is a much larger franchise, whereas Pokémon was always better marketed.

I think that what really is very very famous it's the complete Pokemon brand, because almost everyone knows it or have heard about it (yeah, even mom)... But strictly talking about RPG games, Final Fantasy it's the most famous game of all time, regardless sellings...

i think its pretty difficult to beat the fame that the pokemon games got, i mean almost every one in the world has heard of the games, most children go thru a phase when they are obsessed with pokemon, be it thru the games, cards, anime. the fact that it completely saturated the market makes it pretty hard to beat. and munkgrav, the question was what is the most famous, not best. i agree that final fantasy is better than pokemon, but final fantasy will most likely never get the same fame as pokemon, because every non-gamer knows about pokemon.

I would probably think that Golden Sun, Final Fantasy, and Fire Emblem is more famous then pokemon. But, that's just in my town.

On my point of view, Pokemon it's a very good RPG game, but Zelda and Final Fantasy games are very good too and they are older than Pokemon.(Sorry for my bad english)

We're talkin about the GAME, and if we talk about that, FF has more than pokemon has-your character ACTUALLY fights. Better Battle graphics. However, pokemon lets you control where you wanna go and when.
