I don't really thing the Legend of Zelda counts as an RPG, unless you are talking about Zelda II, and i wouldn't call it one of the most famous RPG games around (it usually gets lost in the clutter)I would however say that Pokemon is the most famous RPG games around at this time, at the very least it would be the most popular among European and other English speaking nations, while FF would be more popular in Japan. I haven't played a single FF game since Final Fantasy 7, probably because i haven't got the system to play it on, however i have actually bought a GBA and a DS for the soul reason of just wanting to play the Pokemon games. There are alot of other people i know who have done the sameI think that Pokemon is definately the most played game, but not the most famous. That falls on Legend of Zelda or Final Fantasy games.

it was very popular but i wouldnt say its the best rpg everwould have to final fantasy's because theyve been going ever since 1987

Final Fantasy and Zelda might be the most well known to advanced players, since they are the "retro games that still are going strong" but Pokemon have a wider audience and more wide spread across the world I think.

No, it's definitely Pokemon. If you think about it little kids from all over the world play Pokemon but not half of them would even recognize Final Fantasy. Pokemon has a much larger target audience (young kids, teens, even adults) than Zelda or Final Fantasy. Heck, even my mom knows what Pokemon is (but not the others).

Hmm, I wouldn't say pokemon is the most famous, famous sure, but not the most. Also it's kinda boring after you play it for awhile, sure people know about it, but come on would you continue playing after you've beat the elite four so many times, unless you restart the game of course.
Final fantasy is a pretty good play, has a neat story too, but I'm not too sure the younger gens (the fresh ones) know about it, has been silent for a bit.
